It's Graduation Friday! We had such an enthusiastic crowd that people heard our cheering three floors down. Please give it up for Aaron and Deondre, who started jobs with contractors the same week they graduated. Aaron and Deondre received praise for helping their fellow students and embracing change. A classmate said, “Seeing how you both changed was inspiring. It’s the turnaround that matters, and I look up to you!” Proud family members stood to offer congratulations and pride in their graduates, and our Life Coach, Mr. Chett, said, "Deondre and Aaron were not sure what they wanted when they arrived here except to be out of the place they were in. Both were determined to graduate." When it was Deondre's turn at the podium, he shared, "This program changed my outlook. When I arrived here, I had no direction. The TIP staff all have different jobs, but they work well together. What we learned here makes work out there so much easier. We are well prepared."

This WINsday’s post is dedicated to our wonderful winning speakers that shared their time, talent and treasure with our CORE students. CORE (Career Opportunities in Real Estate) is an eight module, workforce development program designed specifically to promote career awareness and attract underrepresented populations to the real estate industry. Part of what lights me up is introducing my colleagues to over 200 students in our Spring 2024 cohort. These students represent over 350 colleges and universities in 46 states. Join me in thanking Terreline (Shellie) Sims, NAAEI’s Director of Workforce Development; Peter (Tola) Adediran, Asst. Project Manager for HITT Contracting & RECA Board Member and Karen V. Mills, P.E.,Esq., Founder & CEO of GIMOS, LLC for offering words of wisdom to our students. This program would not exist without the generosity of our Founding Partners and the administrative oversight provided by Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE), LifeRamp and The Quadrillion. I’m passing along their words of wisdom to you… Tola’s quote: “it pays to show up in person, asking for the opportunity and offering your talents always highlighting your professional brand.” In addition to promoting RPM Careers Week, April 15-19, Shellie reminded the students that our industry offers great benefits in addition to a portable career. On a personal note, make the most of connections so that someone will carry your name into rooms that you aren’t in. Lastly, Karen reminded us that the graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take the first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream. Wisdom comes from experience. We are either winning or we are learning. #CORE #LifeRamp #GeniusZone #RPMCareers

This was one of my favorite HRACRE (Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate) meetings. My favorite part was learning how they research trends to implement into their properties. Thanks The Breeden Company for having us! #propertymanagement #commercialrealestate #collegeintern
Yesterday, some of the Breeden leadership team spoke with Hampton Roads-based interns from various organizations regarding Breeden Property Management’s capabilities. Many thanks to the HRACRE (Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate) for organizing the intern programming and allowing us to share more about The Breeden Difference. It was great to talk with so many future professionals. The Breeden leadership team included Bonnie Moore (President, Property Management), Christine Gustafson (Vice President, Marketing & Public Relations), Mark Denny (Vice President, Property Management) and Jamie Kane (Vice President of New Development, Multifamily Division). #thebreedencompany #hracre #intership #inspiringthenextgeneration #propertymanagement

The latest blog post of “Business Grows Here” by Terri Alessi-Miceli, President & CEO of HIA-LI, is online now! Learn about the HIA-LI’s brand-new "Setup for Success" Shadowing Program, which aims to address the disconnect between the skills being taught in our schools and the needs of today’s job market. Through this program, the HIA-LI plans to give students real-world exposure to careers they might one day pursue. Below is an excerpt from the blog post: "In today’s fast-paced world, the connection between education and industry is more critical than ever. Employers across Long Island — and indeed, across the country — are facing a growing challenge: finding skilled workers to fill the positions that drive our economy forward. Yet, despite the abundance of job opportunities, many of these positions remain unfilled due to a shortage of qualified candidates. This is a challenge that HIA-LI, in partnership with the Smithtown School District’s Industry Advisory Board (IAB), is taking head-on with the launch of our new “Setup for Success” Shadowing Program."
