Reminiscing on the amazing speaking opportunity I had at High Point Market! It was a wonderful experience leading an educational discussion and CEU on the psychology of color. Thank you again to all who attended and to Benjamin Moore for sponsoring our exclusive color palette.

I AM AMAZED to find out that while I have been teaching ART over the years, I never really knew the depth of my impact. This new discovery about how ART changes the brain has me looking at teaching ART in a new light. Neuroplasticity is not new, but new to me, as I learn more deeply how I am changing the plasticity of the brain with each Guest I teach. https://lnkd.in/gVmFuBcp

✨The Data Culture Coach ✨ Inspiring possibilities ~ Raising the ceiling ~ Normalizing healthy, cohesive cultures ~ Guiding expertise to clarity ~ Building leadership confidence🎯
Let’s keep it real: working in urban schools requires selflessness. There were many days I did not feel like teaching or leading. There were many days I felt unwell, especially through my chemo treatments. There were many days when life was “lifing” and my thoughts were elsewhere. But I still showed up and gave what I had because I knew what I was experiencing was small compared to what many of our students experience daily. It is what our most marginalized students deserve. Adults must push past their individual wants for the benefit of kids. To be tenacious. To build the grit muscle needed for Black and Brown students to be successful. Please don't misunderstand. I firmly believe in protecting your mind, body, and spirit, AND I also believe that as adults, we model how to show up for students despite lifes challenges. ⬇️ What strategies do you use that help you push through your wants to be there for students?

A mini research paper I wrote on how Community-Based Art can help Special Needs students "“Arts learning enables students to make mental connections between concepts and hands-on, concrete applications and to generate knowledge through being actively engaged in learning. Any hands-on or active arts learning encourages conscientization, the discovery of one’s potential.” ((Ho, 2010, 68)" https://lnkd.in/gn97cwHm

Dr. Gloria Gilmer, the third Black female to get a Ph.D. in mathematics in the US, focused much of her research on the advanced mathematics in Black hairstyling. Dr. Gilmer's papers were recently acquired by the Library of Congress. Her research led me to create HairMath. HairMath introduces young Black girls to fractals, tessellations, and algorithms, through styling their hair. #blackgirlmagic #dove #crownact #womeninstem #mathematics #stem #matheducation #representationmatters #education #matheducation

Having 2 small children myself, I know that getting a child to sit and focus for a set amount of time is tricky for many. That's why we include 3 board games that only take around 5 minutes to play. You can play just 1 or 2 or all 3 boards depending on your child's focus. 👅Hello my dear friends and teachers! I'm excited to share with you a valuable resource that can help make learning human anatomy a breeze. This 3D model of the human body is an excellent teaching aid that can be used in all classes to help students visualize and understand the location of various organs and systems. By using this model, teachers can make complex concepts more accessible and engaging for their students.👃 👁️With this model, students can explore the human body in a hands-on and interactive way, gaining a deeper understanding of how different organs and systems work together. The model can be used to teach various topics, from the skeletal and muscular systems to the circulatory and nervous systems. By seeing the relationships between different organs and systems, students can develop a more comprehensiv👁️e understanding of human anatomy. 🏋️Using this model as a teaching aid can make learning anatomy easier and more enjoyable for students. It can help reduce confusion and misconceptions, and make complex concepts more tangible and memorable. Teachers can use the model to create interactive lessons, quizzes, and activities that promote active learning and engagement. By incorporating this model into their teaching practices, educators can help their students develop a stronger foundation in human anatomy and a lifelong appreciation for the wonders of the human body!👂👅
