Our own harvest is in full swing, and as you can see our "ears" will probably have a good yield. Today our social committee passed out some bags of popcorn for everyone, spreading seasonal cheer. A special shout out to Jessica, our Marketing Manager, for hand-delivering the bags with a smile!

My friend was having a family disagreement on what to name their new Highlander calf. Wilbur, from Charlotte’s Web, was the frontrunner – which she didn’t like. I agreed – is it a pig or a cow?! 🐷 She saw it as a family disagreement to overcome. I saw it as a marketing opportunity. They are opening an on-farm ice creamery this summer. They need to build their social following and drum up interest in their new business. 🐮 Make the calf your new creamery’s mascot. 🐄 Introduce him on social media and ask for name ideas. ✅ Narrow down to the top ideas and hold a formal vote – either online or in-person at your grand opening event. 📸 Have the calf at the grand opening for photo opportunities. 🎉 Reveal his name at the event and online. 🍦 Use him to announce the rotating ice cream flavors. I kept throwing out different ideas on how the calf could drive social content for months. She called to talk about her family disagreement. I listened and told her how to leverage the problem to build a marketing campaign to build their business (while also eliminating the family disagreement). Win-Win. That’s what happens when you talk to experienced marketing professionals. We’re always thinking about how to change problems into opportunities – even when the original conversation had nothing to do with marketing!

A great discussion within the CUB Marketing Community today. Fun to get into the metrics that marketers should be reviewing and the true cost of measurement. How far does over-investment in ad-tech, to enable measurement, and the focus on immediate ROI limit reach within awareness marketing?
