From my new and important essay in the Jewish Journal: "Writers should write proudly and prodigiously about their Jewish identities—the complexities, joys, sorrows, challenges, and blessings. We should write to defy those who prefer seeing books where Jews are either victims or plotting their escape from religious Jewish practice we should write to give strength and inspiration to Jews, holding fast to faith—and discovering faith—in a time of remarkable hostility, knowing we will prevail, we should write to leave a legacy for those who will follow." https://lnkd.in/gsWR3URi

Ghostwriter & Writing Guide | Serving badass and brilliant women ready to brave the path to the page and write their memoirs of grit, hope, and triumph. | Author of Dear Universe, I Get it Now
You may have heard the famous line by Desmond Tutu: “There is only one way to eat an elephant…” Which is a terrible thing to consider. I love elephants. But this quote makes the perfect point for this week’s writing wisdom and love letter. (The rest of this quote, if you’re unfamiliar is: “...a bite at a time.”) Writing a book can be a daunting and overwhelming task, especially when you’ve never done it before. There are multiple parts and pieces to consider from manuscript development to platform building to publication…The list goes on. You could be stuck because you have no information and don’t know where to begin, or, maybe you’ve gone down the internet rabbit hole and have so much information you still don’t know where to begin. Most likely, you’re somewhere in between. Regardless of where you sit on this spectrum, you haven’t started. Yet standing still has never gotten anyone very far in anything. I don’t want you to spend another year standing still. Whether that’s not starting your book at all or unable to pick up where you left off last year. You’ve got to keep going. The best way to do that is to (*cue the Winter Warlock and turn up the music:) “Put one foot in front of the other.” Or, in other words, take ONE STEP at a time. Pick one small action you know you need to take and only focus on that one thing. One small action is one step closer to a book than taking no action at all. Bonus: You won’t have to harm any elephants in the process.

"WHEN YOU KNOW BETTER YOU DO BETTER" The quote "When you know better, you do better" is actually attributed to Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou, a renowned American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist, is known for her impactful words and wisdom. This particular quote emphasizes the importance of learning and growth. It suggests that as we gain knowledge and understanding, we are more likely to make better decisions and take more appropriate actions. Here's a corrected version of your statement
