The Uniswap proposal to pass protocol fees to token holders could be a major paradigm shift. FRAX Finance announced a similar proposal. It’s too soon to extrapolate, but here’s my kneejerk reaction: (a) Diminished fear of U.S. regulatory reaction and the risk/consequences of being labelled as security. The industry is on the offensive against the SEC. Every underperforming governance token out there is watching. (b) I dare not think of what would happen to the $LDO token if Lido even hinted on this possibility. Protocols with high real fee revenue (issuance adjusted) could start trading like call options on this risk. Enough said. (c) This is deep in my thesis of a gradual industry shift towards "value capture" (fundamentals). TradFi's adoption of crypto will accelerate the move.
