I wore many hats there, including writing lesson plans, instructing new hires, going through a management training program, and even volunteering at the VITA program. Now, I'm on a mission to get my Enrolled Agent (EA) license because, funny enough, taxpayers out here couldn't care less about my time with Uncle Sam. They just want to know if I have a CPA, if my prices are "cheap", and if I can conjure up a refund like a magician. 🪄✨ I blame it on those “pick me, we’re cheaper” tax commercials. 😅 But enough about my soapbox rant! FREE (OR DISOUNTED) for Seniors FRIDAY - I will be providing some FREE or discounted services for Seniors from my PowerPoint presentation. Don’t Be Afraid to Ask About Your Senior Discount Have you ever worked in retail and had to ask someone if they are old enough to qualify for a senior discount? It’s embarrassing whether you guessed right or you guessed wrong! With the “Not-So-Senior” discount, it can be even more challenging. Fifty-five years old is simply not “old’’ anymore, and many people that age do not look as if they deserve any kind of age-related discount. So don’t be afraid to inquire as to whether you can get a discount on the goods or services you are purchasing. Again, it may just cover your taxes or a tip, but every little bit counts.

It's getting extra spooky in the UK. Today is Halloween which is probably my favourite celebration. Unfortunately, the UK government announced their tax changes for Autumn 2024 to go on par with the horror vibes of the season. Apparently, those changes are to support small businesses. I guess they also have a good sense of humour. In the changes announced, there are a few notable changes made for SMEs. Being in Merger and Acquisitions, the first one is the Capital Gain Tax rises from 10% to 18% for the lower tier, and from 20% to 24% if you are over £1M. This may make investors less interested in acquiring businesses in the UK which will make it even harder for owners to exit. Other changes are being made to: - Employers National Insurance Contributions - Inheritance Tax - Corporation Tax - Vehicle Excise Duty - Energy Profits Levy And more, of course. ‐--------------------------------- If you would like me to make a full breakdown of the recent changes and how they will impact small companies, let me know and I'll try to break it down as much as possible!
