A new survey of 250 UK office landlords by workspace provider @infinitSpace revealed that, on average, 36% of respondents’ office floor space is currently coworking or flexspace. On average, landlords expect this to rise to 54% by 2030. I'm sharing an answer I just provided to someone asking how a coworking office space is different from just leasing some building space. Here you go: The biggest differences will be time and flexibility. A TRADITIONAL COMMERCIAL LEASE often locks you into a multi-year financial obligation; and you often incur responsibilities for utilities, cleaning services, maintenance and upkeep, along with the cost of installing furnishings, internet, and possibly walls, lighting, and more. Also with a traditional commercial space, you will likely need to have enough floorspace and extra furniture for your meeting room(s), reception area, kitchen area, appliances, break areas, etc. And you will likely need to hire at a minimum, a receptionist or even an office manager. And as you can imagine, setting all this up will take a fair amount of time and lots of extra money.
