Our legal system should serve as a beacon of justice, but for far too long, it has been a tool of oppression, particularly against Black communities. It’s time to reclaim our power and demand a system that reflects the dignity and rights of every Black person in this country. We must push for policies that ensure fairness and equality in the courts, end discriminatory practices, and hold those in power accountable. But change doesn’t just come from the top—it starts with us. As everyday people, we can empower our communities by educating ourselves and others about our rights, supporting Black-led legal initiatives, and showing up for those who have been unjustly targeted. We can advocate for reform, mentor our youth, and use our voices to call out injustice wherever we see it. Together, we can transform the legal system into one that truly serves and protects all of us, building a future where Black empowerment and justice go hand in hand. #vote #civicengagement #socialjustice #election2024 #community #kyara4judge

One week ago today, it was #WorldSocialJusticeDay! In honor of that day, especially considering it occurs during Black History Month, we want to shine a spotlight on an often mischaracterized and, subsequently, misunderstood group and movement in the U.S. — the Black Panther Party (BPP)! More often than not, the BPP was mischaracterized as comprised of anti-White Black militants; however, in reality, the BPP was a working-class youth-led movement that supported multiracial coalition building; supported their communities with equity-promoting Survival Programs, which provided free food, healthcare, and voter registration drives; promoted self-determination; and established schools in 9 different cities. Additionally, their vision extended beyond the national level. They saw the issues Black Americans have been forced to endure and face as connected to an African decolonization and global liberation movement. For example, Co-Founder Huey P. Newton drew comparisons between the Black American experience and the experience of colonized peoples, such as the Vietnamese. “It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love and protect one another. We have nothing to lose but our chains.” — Assata Shakur https://lnkd.in/gcc-qZaS #blackhistorymonth #blackhistory #blackexcellence #blackgirlmagic #historic #history #justice #socialimpact #socialjustice #education #educational #blackpower #blackpride #blackpanther #blackpanthers #blackpantherparty #coalition #coalitionbuilding #equity #food #healthcare #voterregistration #votereducation #national #global #colonialism #colonization #racism #decolonization #decolonize #liberation #freedom #breakthechains #love #protection #support #community #communitybuilding #communityengagement #communityhealth #communitydevelopment #communityempowerment #empowerment #empowering #pride

The systemic intimidation and criminalization of Black men in America is an affront to humanity. How can we, as a global society, turn a blind eye to the injustices endured by Black communities in the United States while advocating fervently against injustices abroad? This selective justice is, in itself, a form of profound injustice. It is time for a collective introspection. How do we reconcile our advocacy for human rights overseas with our silence on the racial injustices happening within America's borders? The plight of Black Americans, enduring discrimination, violence, and systemic bias, demands our immediate attention and action. By ignoring the racial injustices at home while speaking out against those elsewhere, we perpetuate a cycle of hypocrisy and neglect. True justice requires us to confront and dismantle all forms of oppression, regardless of where they occur. We must champion equality and justice universally, ensuring that our voices are as loud in defense of Black lives in America as they are for others across the globe. Only then can we hope to build a world where every individual, regardless of race, is afforded the dignity and respect they deserve. #BlackLivesMatter #EndRacialInjustice #UniversalHumanRights #PoliceBrutality #SelectiveJusticeIsInjustice #EqualityForAll #JusticeForBlackAmericans #socialjustice #StandAgainstRacism #ReflectAndAct #HumanityFirst #Racism

This fact is part of our #BlackHistoryMonth Moments in Black History series. The CROWN Act is significant in Black History as it addresses discrimination against natural African American hairstyles, challenging historical biases in grooming standards. By prohibiting race-based hair discrimination, the legislation promotes inclusivity and contributes to the broader movement for civil rights and equality. Learn more: https://hubs.la/Q02jynvR0
