It's been more than two years since we kicked off our Bi-clEVer pilot at E.ON Group Innovation, where we wanted to take a really close look at #bidirectionalcharging technology and how it could work in real life, testing it over long periods to understand its potential and how to use it most effectively. I can safely say: So much has happened since then and it's amazing how far we've come! Today, I'm pleased to share some promising findings from our pilot project: Key highlights: * Up to €920 annual savings for EV drivers through bi-directional charging, combining vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications. * Achieve up to 51% energy self-sufficiency with a solar PV system and a bi-directional EV - increasing to 59% with additional home battery storage. By maximising self-consumption of solar power and strategically using dynamic electricity tariffs, EV owners can save up to €420 per year through V2H. In the future, selling electricity back to the grid via V2G could generate up to €500 per year, providing valuable flexibility to the energy market. Our pilot also revealed other interesting findings: For example, that users prefer the bi-directional charging mode to start automatically when they plug in their electric car, with settings such as desired state of charge and departure time automatically configured - but still allowing for manual adjustments if needed. I couldn't be prouder of our team's progress and can't wait to see the next steps - things are moving forward!
