Belgium We are thrilled to announce that RP-DCT is now extending its services to Belgium, a country renowned for its robust healthcare system and significant contributions to clinical research. With a population of approximately 11.7 million, Belgium boasts a universal healthcare system that covers nearly 100% of its residents. In 2022, Belgian authorities approved 474 clinical trials, with the largest proportion focusing on oncology. By 2023, the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) reported 174 clinical trial applications under the new EU Clinical Trials Regulation (CTR), and by mid-2024, this number had grown to 364 applications. This highlights Belgium’s continuous commitment to advancing clinical research and innovation. The FAMHP has also published recommendations on incorporating decentralized elements in clinical trials, reflecting the country's proactive approach toward patient-centric research methodologies. The Netherlands We are excited to announce that RP-DCT is now extending its services to the Netherlands, a country recognized for its excellent healthcare system and pivotal role in clinical research. With a population of approximately 17.5 million, the Netherlands has one of the most efficient and innovative healthcare systems in Europe, offering universal coverage to all its residents. Each year, around 600 new clinical drug trials are launched in the Netherlands, with more than 60,000 participants involved. This highlights the country's commitment to advancing medical research and its leading position in the European clinical trials ecosystem. Additionally, a publication titled "The Netherlands Positioning Within the European Clinical Trials Ecosystem" indicates that the Netherlands has the third highest number of trials initiated between 2018 and 2022 and ongoing trials in Europe when adjusted for population. The Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) has also supported the integration of decentralized clinical trials, encouraging the use of digital tools and home-based trial elements to enhance patient-centric research. This progressive approach aligns perfectly with RP-DCT’s mission to provide efficient, patient-focused solutions for decentralized clinical trials.
