This is an important new paper that addresses the elephant in the room of fashion sustainability, how to finance the decarbonization of the apparel value chain. With the bulk of the apparel industry's climate impacts embedded in the supply chain if we don't solve this challenge we will never achieve the industry's collective climate goals.

We scored 52 of fashion's most powerful companies, and the data is clear: The main driver of fashion’s still increasing environmental impact is the growing volume of production. 🤔 Remake is now asking why and how do we allow this to happen, and what can we do to stop it? 🌟 Learn more in our report here: https://lnkd.in/giCZG-c7 Without a conscious reduction of annual product output, even the simultaneous implementation of “circularity” initiatives, improvements in energy efficiency, and use of “preferred” materials will not be enough to sufficiently reduce fashion's overall climate footprint. No company can yet demonstrate that it is replacing linear production; they are merely running repair, resale, rental programs in parallel to the production of new goods.
