🚨 Critical Security Alert for macOS Users: Microsoft Apps Vulnerability 🚨 🔐 A new vulnerability affecting Microsoft apps on macOS has been discovered by Cisco Talos researchers. The flaw allows hackers to access your Mac’s camera and microphone without your consent. The vulnerability affects popular apps like Microsoft Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, and Excel. Microsoft has rolled back a fix for an Outlook bug that was causing incorrect security alerts when opening ICS calendar files after the December 2023 security updates. The issue, which involved an information disclosure vulnerability (CVE-2023-35636), led to warnings about potential security concerns when double-clicking ICS files saved on devices. The fix, initially released in early April, has been temporarily disabled due to issues discovered during testing. Microsoft is working on modifications and will re-enable the fix once it's ready for retesting. In the meantime, a temporary workaround involving a registry key is available to disable the false security notifications.
