The issue of competition between airports is often addressed without considering the end-to-end passenger experience, and more specifically ground access. In line with the phenomenon of metropolisation, air traffic flows have tended to concentrate on the major airports, to the detriment of medium-sized cities and regional airports. Access times to airports have become longer, to the detriment of the quality of service offered to passengers: loss of comfort, longer journey times, increased travel budgets, increased CO2 emissions. An airport that is closer to its customers greatly simplifies their lives.
