Perth communities will benefit from an $8.6 million boost to active transport infrastructure, thanks to the WA Bicycle Network Grants Program! 👏 Over the next four years, awarded projects will deliver walking and riding connections to new and upgraded METRONET stations, enhancing connectivity to public transport, local destinations and other key activity centres. This grants program matches local government expenditure dollar-for-dollar, helping communities to be able to more easily and frequently choose active transport for everyday trips. An additional intake for projects connecting to train stations across metropolitan Perth will open in 2025, as well as a new program to support local governments developing local bike plans. ♥️ Congratulations to all metropolitan grant recipients! ICYMI: 🥳 Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada | Logement, Infrastructures et Collectivités Canada has opened applications to fund active transportation capital projects across the country. Up to $500 million is available and applications are due February 26 (April 9 for Indigenous recipients). 🤔 Let's put this into some context: The original Active Transportation Fund launched in 2021 and set out to allocate just $400 million over five years. 💰 We know from bike activists at the grassroots that access to capital funding is one of the biggest barriers to building bicycle-friendly communities. That's why we have been working tirelessly with our national partners to secure this federal funding. 🚧 Want to see the construction or enhancement of infrastructure in your community to encourage cycling and active transportation? NOW is the time to call up your local government and make sure they are getting an application together. 👉 Details here: https://lnkd.in/egggdc5U
BREAKING NEWS: 🥳 Our advocacy efforts have paid off! Applications for capital projects are due by Feb 26, 2025! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/egggdc5U Thank you to our collaborators in the Canadian Active Transportation Alliance: Active School Travel Canada, CAA Club Group, Green Communities Canada, Heart & Stroke, Piétons Québec and Trans Canada Trail | Sentier Transcanadien!
