SOME PEOPLE MAY THINK THAT THEY CAN DO ANYTHING. Our appearance, for example, according to some, should be changed. They may want to decide how you will get your hair cut and what you can and cannot wear. What to drink, what type of music to listen to and even what time you should do it... What to watch on television, what and how much you can access on the internet, How to show your emotions and under what conditions you can experience them, On what subjects and for whom you can use your mind, How you should invest your savings, How large your family population should be, How you should understand many universal concepts such as morality and justice, I take the opportunity to commemorate that beautiful person and everyone who supported him on this path, who stood against the "SOME" and who made me say today that these "SOME" are not that tall, who presented the Republic as a constitutional right that cannot be changed and that changing it cannot even be proposed. With endless gratitude and respect to ATAM, who made it possible with the Republic established 100 years ago and the revolutions he made. We, as the youth of the Republic, Preferring choice over imposition; who prefers the worst freedom to a so-called noble mandate, Glorifying and praising women and seeing this as a prerequisite for being an advanced civilization, Believing that free thought lies in curiosity, and science is not limited by the restrictions of merchants; The new path he opened was an example for nations, without privileges, without classes, with people uniting, The Republic and its revolutions are not a destruction or a system; defines it as a way of life, Who rises like the sun over every darkness, who does not turn away from the path of the world even if it turns upside down, Your understanding, your dreams, your vision; With the drive, excitement and determination of the first day, we will forever be its defender and protector. Happy 100th Anniversary of OUR REPUBLIC! #foreeverrepublic #turkiye #cumhuriyetimiz100yaşında #cumhuriyet100yaşında #cumhuriyetbayramı #cumhuriyetin100yılı #cumhuriyetimizin100yılıkutluolsun #turkishrepublicday #29ekim #29ekimcumhuriyetbayramı #atatürk #olmasanolmazdik

Happy Centennial Anniversary to the Turkish Republic! (Cumhuriyetin 100. Yili Kutlu Olsun!), that is what we celebrated with the members of the EY Turkish US/UK Community pictured below. This is not only a milestone for anyone with a Turkish background but also for any citizen of any country rooting for a pluralistic democratic system in the world. We should all reflect on the facts that Ataturk, the founder of the republic and a genius statesman of the 20th Century, granted rights to women to vote and to be elected in 1930 (years ahead of several Western Democracies), or transformed the way modern Turks write/read using the Latin alphabet giving broad access to literacy, among many other reforms and in that way, he had offered all emerging countries a playbook in humanitarian progress and change management. Yet today, the Turkish democracy (or any other democracy US or other in the world) is an ongoing experiment. Not maintaining it has a hefty price in face of autocratic, non-secular, ultra-nationalistic, oppressive and racist regimes which are still aplenty in the world regardless of whether they are promoted by the ultra-right or ultra-left. Ataturk as a soldier and a liberator of a new republic who fought in many wars understood the unique value of peace for humanitarian progress so let's conclude with one of his maxims: Peace in the nation and peace in the world.

As we celebrate Israel’s Independence Day, we honor not only the resilience of a nation but also the profound concept of post-traumatic growth. Just as Israel has risen from the ashes of adversity, individuals facing trauma often find unexpected strength, wisdom, and renewal in the aftermath of their struggles. Yom Ha’atzmaut serves as a reminder that out of darkness can come profound growth and renewal. Today and everyday, Israelis embody the resilience and strength that can emerge from adversity. As we reflect on our own journeys of growth and resilience, we pray for Israel’s continued independence. May we draw inspiration from the remarkable story of Israel and embrace the potential for growth and renewal in our own lives.
