At Travel In Motion and Oystin, we support airlines in defining their distribution strategy and the execution thereof, creating NDC adoption strategies, evaluating their NDC readiness, and other related topics. During these activities, one important question is bound to come at some point: “How do we ensure that we made the right choice?” In this month’s TiMcast Thibaud Rohmer discusses this subject with Jonathan Newman of the Accelya Group. Barbara and I recently worked out that of the 140 biggest network airlines, the ones least likely to have deployed an NDC API are at the smaller end of the scale. Considering that many of the commercial #challenges facing airline profitability are no less acute for smaller businesses, and the values no less pronounced, we thought it was worth addressing why airlines of any size should now be exploring #NDC. Join Barbara, Oliver, and me tomorrow as we discuss the changes to the travel seller marketplace, the competitive advantages #airlineretailing brings and just what Accelya Group is doing about making it more accessible. https://lnkd.in/d4Zb7CAJ

This week's Aviation Humpday Podcast - Airport planning needs to focus on the future - and it's bright for communities that plan ahead, instead of focusing on the past. The future of airports is in economic development. At a time when some small and mid-size airports are squandering millions in near-futile efforts to attract "flights" within a regionalizing airline system, others are seeing the opportunities in building major economic generators, attracting new industry, creating new jobs, and delivering incredible financial impact on their regions. This week, Mike and Bill discuss with Greg Donovan how MLB has achieved huge success in making the airport a key part of the economy of Central Florida and the Space Coast. No scripts, no agendas. Just facts that other airports need to consider. https://lnkd.in/gzbA4e9M

Day 2 of International Air Transport Association (IATA) Innovation Day! Starting the morning hearing from Andy Lui & R. Kat Morse speaking about innovation within airline alliances. Interesting take away: “maybe ‘fail fast’ isn’t the right way to think about it. In innovation & POCs value isn’t possible. Rather thing about it as park fast. The park fast, the POC might not be serving your needs. That’s okay, park it and move on.” I’m tremendously excited about how Rapid is working with airlines & airline alliances to share APIs to drive collaboration and innovation. Sharing data and services with your partners is essential.

Airlines initially struggled to keep up with the pace of change in technology. They needed to meet consumers’ demands for tech that they could utilize with their airline. And what Maya Leibman, former CIO and current Senior Advisor for American Airlines, found was that transformation is far from easy. You need to overcommunicate, bring the willing rather than worry about the detractors, and realize that you must continuously get better. Change really is a journey, not a destination 🛣️ Maya reveals all in the most recent of our Talking Transformation Series—discover the full insights here: https://lnkd.in/gihgeNZm
