In natural disasters, like Hurricane Helene 🌀, my headspace goes to data collection, infrastructure, emergency management, development patterns, and macroeconomics around loss sizing, insurance penetration, and how to flip attention into resiliency investments. I take a wider angle to learn from events to prevent this level of devastation from occurring again, because the storm is <50% of the problem. Focusing 👀 on the immediate crisis, however, there are many ways to help 🤝. I support this donation list by Blueridge Public Radio. There are well known aid groups, food pantries, and local charities. If you want to give to specific needs, you can directly purchase diapers, support relocation of kids in foster care, medical convoys, or the homeless population. Please consider giving in this time. #hurricane #flood #donation

Hurricane Helene has hit North Carolina hard, and right now, safety and getting aid to impacted communities are the top priorities. But it’s also important to remember that voting plays a key role in shaping the recovery process and ensuring our voices are heard. If you've been displaced or lost your ID due to the storm, there are still options to cast your ballot. Absentee ballots can be sent to an alternate address, and there's an ID exemption for those in disaster-declared areas. Early voting is from Oct. 17 to Nov. 2, with Election Day on Nov. 5. While we focus on securing resources and support, let’s make sure no one is left out of decisions that will affect our future. Our partner, Democracy Green, has established "Green Alert" mutual aid hubs to distribute these critical supplies. But we can't do it without your support. Please donate today to help us dispatch rapid aid to those affected by these disasters. You can direct your donation to a specific state or support our overall relief efforts. Your gift will ensure that humanity is upheld during this challenging time. Let's act with love and help our brothers and sisters in need. In the wake of natural disasters, scams often increase, preying on those affected. My company recently shared some valuable information on how to stay vigilant, and I wanted to pass along a few key tips to help protect both individuals and businesses. Here are some things we can do to keep safe: 👉 Be cautious of any strange emails. If you don’t know the sender, don’t click links or open attachments. 👉Always verify charity phone numbers by checking their official website to make sure you're reaching the real deal. 👉Stick to donating to trusted, well-known organizations. Sadly, some people set up fake charities after disasters. 👉Be careful with what you see on social media. Not everything is fact-checked or verified, so it’s good to double-check with FEMA for information related to resources or contact your local authorities before sharing. 👉Be cautious if someone asks you for money directly, even if it sounds urgent. It's always better to donate through reputable organizations or platforms rather than sending money to individuals you don’t know personally. If you're looking to donate, consider well-known organizations like the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, or World Central Kitchen. These groups are actively helping those affected by the recent hurricanes and are trusted sources for disaster relief. Stay safe out there, and let's look out for each other! #hurricane #security #hurricanemilton #hurricanehelene

WINGS CRS - HURRICANE JOHN EMERGENCY FEEDING MISSION On Friday, October 4th, utilizing $2700 in donations received last week, Wings CRS completed its first emergency food and hygiene products deliveries to 85 impoverished families living atop the mountains outside Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. In the wake of Hurricane John—the second major hurricane to devastate the region within a year—these families had endured ten days without food. The mission provided essential relief to those most affected by the disaster. Our goal is to provide pantries of quality food to 1915 awaiting families in the same area who will not be receiving emergency food assistance from the government or any other aid agency as Wings CRS has been the only humanitarian aid for these communities since Hurricane Otis struck on October 23, 2023. $35 provides a pantry of quality food and hygiene products to 1 family. $105 provides for 3 families. 100% of your gift goes only to the needy families we serve. Contributions can be made via one of these 3 payment methods: Zelle to: savelives@wings-crs.org PayPal: savelives@wings-crs.org By debit or credit card: wings-crs.org/donate #hurricane #hurricanejohn #guerrero #guerreromexico #emergency #emergencyfeeding #hunger #starvation #humanitarian #humanitarianaid #humanitarianrelief #charity #WingsCRS #savemorelives #communityaction #thestormafterthestorm

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many organizations will be seeking donations to support response and recovery efforts. Sadly, this is also go-time for scammers. So what’s a well-intended donor to do? 🥁🥁🥁 Your research! Just like you wouldn’t buy a car without test-driving it first, look into causes that are asking for your money. Some reliable resources to aid in your vetting are Charity Navigator, CharityWatch, GuideStar and Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance. A little good, old-fashioned googling can’t hurt either. At the very least, any legitimate charity who is responding to Helene (or any disaster) would have information about it on their website and social media. Be a good Sherlock Holmes and vet, Vet, VET your causes. Bonus, insider two cents — as a former United Way employee, I know and trust in their disaster response funds. You can learn more about United Way’s Hurricane Helene Relief and Recovery Fund below. ⬇️ #HurricaneHelene #NonprofitSpotlight #DoYourResearch

As most of you know, Hurricane Helene has caused significant damage, particularly in Florida and North Carolina. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who checked in, and I feel fortunate to be outside the direct path of Helene and Milton. However, with Hurricane Milton expected to make landfall Wednesday evening as a Category 5 storm, my thoughts are with those tragically impacted just a few hours north of South Florida. While I’m uncertain of the weather we’ll face in Miami, I know there are many others who will need your thoughts, prayers, and support more than I will. If you’re looking for ways to help, here’s what FEMA recommends: Volunteer: Sign up with reputable organizations such as the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD). They know where volunteers are needed and can ensure your efforts are effective and safe. Donate to relief organizations: Consider supporting groups helping hurricane victims in Florida and North Carolina, such as Caring For Others, Feeding America, Global Empowerment Mission, Ground Force Humanitarian Aid, Mercy Chefs, American Red Cross, and many others. Identify what is needed: Before donating supplies, check what’s actually needed. Unsolicited goods may not meet the needs of survivors. Avoid traveling to affected areas: While well-intentioned, unplanned travel can add strain on response efforts. Recovery lasts long after the media attention fades, and there will be opportunities to help in the coming months and years. Stay safe, let’s support those who need it most, and please share any other ways to help in the comments below! #Community #HurricaneHelene #HurricaneMilton #Florida #NorthCarolina #Volunteer #Donate

Hurricane Milton is bearing down on Florida. And it’s time for decisive action. Here are three critical steps every CEO must take TODAY to support their team, clients, and community: Reach out to potentially impacted team members: • Don't show that you care about their safety and well-being. Do care • Offer support, resources, and flexibility as they prepare and recover. Contact clients in the hurricane's path: • Check on their status. • Offer assistance where possible. • Communicate any service impacts. Rally your team to help the community: • Organize donations. • Volunteer efforts. • Leverage company resources to make a positive impact. For those outside the hurricane zone, your support is still crucial: • Organize supply drives. • Donate to reputable disaster relief organizations. • Offer remote support to impacted colleagues. • Share verified information to raise awareness. In times of adversity, how we respond defines us. #HurricaneRelief #LeadershipInAction #FloridaStrong
