🗣 Day 1 of the Land Leisure & Tourism Show – and it’s been an eye-opener! 🔹 Do Your Research Top takeaway so far? Know who you’re talking to. We had a marketing agency come over trying to pitch us (client) marketing – without realising we are a marketing agency, here representing our clients. A little homework could have turned that into a productive conversation about collaboration instead of a mismatch. 🔹 Lead with Curiosity, Not a Sales Pitch We also had a furntiture vendor literally barge in, dominate the stand, and bulldoze through a sales pitch for a product we don’t even need. When you’re selling, people remember how you make them feel. Starting with a question, listening to the answer – that’s how you lay the foundation for a real connection. I’m hoping for more meaningful interactions on Day 2! I've always loved creating experiences. Bitten by the bug as a young grad, at the same time as a guard dog bit a journalists sons leg!!! Breaking the world record for a balloon launch at Longleat with Disney for the launch of Aladdin; helicopters, funfairs, hot air balloons, talent, 5 huge dance tents, monkeys, tigers... (you trying explaining to your MD Phil Jackson and PR person Jenny Swift why a guard dog was guarding the VIP tent 🤦♂️) Building an emotional connection between a brand and customer, and having one chance to really make a positive impact through brand behaviour.
