Last Monday (22), we celebrated #EarthDay around the world and this is always a great opportunity to rethink habits and promote good, up-to-date information. This year's theme is Planet vs. Plastic, a call to action to address the plastic pollution crisis that is harming our planet and its inhabitants. Plastic is a durable material that does not biodegrade easily, meaning that it can persist in the environment for hundreds or even thousands of years. This plastic pollution can harm wildlife, pollute our waterways, and even enter our food chain. ⚠️ We need to take action to #reduce plastic pollution. There are a number of things we can do to address the plastic pollution crisis, including: ▪️ Reducing our reliance on single-use plastics. Single-use plastics are items that are used once and then thrown away, such as plastic bags, straws, and utensils. We can reduce our reliance on single-use plastics by carrying reusable alternatives, such as cloth bags, reusable straws, and reusable utensils. ▪️ Recycling plastic. Recycling is a way to process used plastic so that it can be made into new products. When we recycle plastic, we help to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in landfills and the environment. ▪️ Demanding action from our leaders. We can also demand action from our leaders to address the plastic pollution crisis. We can support policies that reduce plastic pollution, such as bans on single-use plastics and extended producer responsibility laws. Together, we can make a difference. By taking action to reduce plastic pollution, we can help to protect our planet and its inhabitants for future generations. #StGallenLatam #EarthDay #EarthMonth #Earth #Nature #Sustainability #PlanetVSPlastic #Environment #Natureza #Sustentabilidade #DiaDaTerra

Let us know in the comments! 🌱💚 Video description: Below text that reads “Earth Day” is a split tree, with the one side depicting the tree in a healthy state, and the other side depicting the tree in an unhealthy state. On the healthy side, the tree has green leaves, flowers and peaches on its branches, and luscious green grass and flowers growing under it. On the unhealthy side, the tree is bare, with a large trash bag, broken clothing hangers, and other plastic packaging caught in its branches. Piles and piles of trash bags litter the ground under the tree. Leaves blow about in the wind, and a plastic bag floats across the scene from the unhealthy side to the healthy side. As it floats into the healthy side, the plastic bag transforms into a white dove, and flies offscreen. #PlanetVsPlastics #EndPlastics
