TravelPerk, the corporate travel management platform, doubled its valuation to $2.7 billion in a $200 million fundraising round led by Atomico and EQT Ventures's growth arm. The fresh cash will be used to accelerate TravelPerk's growth, fuel an expansion in the US and ramp up investment into product, tech and AI. On the topic of AI, I asked Jean-Christophe Taunay-Bucalo, TravelPerk's COO, if he was worried about the emergence of buzzy new AI "agents," like the one introduced by OpenAI last week. Whereas LLMs like GPT require continuous user inputs to produce responses, so-called agents are systems that can autonomously fulfil tasks on your behalf. “The reality is, things don’t change overnight,” Taunay-Bucalo told me. Anything that we see is happening, we’re going test it ... We’re going to release it. If it works, we keep it.
