This is my response every time I'm asked about increasing gender diversity in technical teams. We need to champion it and invest in creating it. 🚀 Women are already part of the technological revolution, but not in sufficient numbers. Women want to grow and contribute to the tech sector; we just need to provide them with the opportunity.✊ Programs like the TravelPerk Academy by AllWomen are a real example that investment pays off. Today we celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development which highlights the richness of the world’s cultures and the crucial role of intercultural dialogue in achieving peace and sustainable development. At Software Mind, we #embraceopenness and always focus on integration as a #OneTeam so it’s important for us that this is reflected in our daily actions.  How are we fostering inclusivity and intercultural understanding across our global community?  • This year, we launched Diversity & Inclusion workshops that introduce us to our regional cultures 🙌 Each new joiner takes part in the training as part of the onboarding process, and we also plan to engage and invite all other #SoftwareMinders for dedicated slots.  •In Software Mind Romania & Moldova, we implemented the Grow & Explore program, which connects Software Minders from Romania & Moldova with colleagues in Poland and gives them the opportunity to dive deeper into each other’s cultures and share experiences from different regions.  • Our #Guilds support Software Minders to exchange knowledge, bond during and after working hours and spend time with people from different countries. 👨💻 • We like to engage with other cultures! For instance, we created regional playlists on Spotify, like “Paraguayan Energy” or “Polish Tunes”, in which Software Minders around the world can share their favorite songs. 🎶 We also try different cuisines at our office events – for example, last year we celebrated employee jubilees in Krakow with zacusca from Romania and arepas from LATAM 🥙 We also host webinars that help us understand different perspectives – for instance, for International Women’s Day, we organized a webinar about work-life balance.     Together, we celebrate and promote the richness of our diverse cultures, which guides us toward a more inclusive and harmonious future.   It's only a beginning of our actions focused on Diversity & Inclusion and we're already working on some new initiatives that will help build awareness within our local communities by supporting students and #WomeninTech.  #EmbracingDiversity #EmbracingInclusion #Diversity #Inclusion

The Golang community is comprised of between 2-5% women. This is far worse than the industry standard (15-20%). A gender-diverse workplace is necessary for a company’s growth. Its essential to understand cultural norms and create favorable workplace for women. So who can we look at for some inspiration? ✨ Microsoft’s DigiGirlz program allows girls within education to meet Microsoft professionals and gain insight into the field of technology. ✨ Under the ‘High-tech Women Rise’ program, Accenture aims to help women develop a long-term career in technology. The program offers many benefits, such as maternity leaves, period leaves, sabbatical leaves, etc., to help women return to work. ✨ Airbus launched the ‘Fly Again’ program to provide career opportunities for women who wished to return to work after taking a break. Candidates who participated in this program received free upskill training, coaching, and guidance to catch up with the industry. #golang #diversityandinclusion #womenintech

And it’s a wrap…3 keynotes in 24 hours in Paris and Pau, France for OneTech at Total Energies. It’s been a packed schedule of multiple flights within 48 hours to make this happen and it was all worth it. These keynotes are the beginning of the #inclusion journey for OneTech. It has been a learning journey for me as well in preparing for these sessions and here are some of my reflections: 💡 Language is understood differently and as DEI practitioners, we need to spend time understanding the local context to adapt and explain the words we use to avoid people feeling defensive and triggered. For example, ‘privilège’ in French evokes certain historical and cultural connotations so using the word ‘privilege ‘ in English requires clarification that we are referring to ‘advantages’. Another one is ‘race’ which is a word that is not found in the French legislation or on official documents. Having conversations about racism in a country where the word ‘race’ is considered a taboo provides an interesting level of challenge. 💡Local context data matters to drive the points home. 💡Don’t underestimate the power of personal narratives and experiences across cultures. These stories translate across cultural and language barriers are build connections and empathy with what can be a rather tough topic. A very fulfilling two days, and I look forward to following the journey of OneTech over the next few months as they use the content on active allyship from my book to train all their employees in inclusive behaviours.
