Have you ever wondered how grief shapes the world of a teenager? 🤔 In my shift from NYC education to mental health therapy, I’ve delved deep into the complexities of adolescent grief. But how do we help teens navigate these challenging waters⁉️ Grief in teenagers often looks different from adults. It can manifest as anger, withdrawal, or even a spike in risky behaviors. Recognizing these signs is the first step in providing support. But here’s where the paradigm shifts: Instead of just offering consolation, we need to empower teens to process their grief. This means creating safe spaces for open expression, whether it’s through art, music, or simply talking. Another vital approach is to help them maintain routines. Stability can be comforting during times of upheaval. However, it’s also essential to allow flexibility, recognizing that some days will be harder than others. For those in educational and community settings, understanding and addressing adolescent grief is crucial. - - - If you’re looking for resources or guidance in supporting grieving teens, 💻visit https://lnkd.in/eHpenwPw.
