To mark Second Chance month, JPMorgan Chase & Co. has introduced a special art installation at Independence Mall in Philadelphia. Named "The Waiting Workforce," it symbolizes the obstacles faced by 1 in 3 Americans with criminal records in their pursuit of meaningful employment, even after fulfilling their obligations. It features statues made from expungement paperwork to bring to life the complex legal challenges that can hold people back from clearing their records in states yet to enact Clean Slate. The thought-provoking art installation draws attention to the real cost of keeping people who have been involved in the justice system from fully participating in the economy. At JPMorgan Chase, we're committed to advocating for change on this critical issue. Approximately 10 percent of our new employees last year were second chance hires. We’re encouraging more employers to enhance their second chance hiring, and to support common-sense policy solutions, like Clean Slate legislation. 1. Say no. They can't force you. They can't whoop you. If your job is handing out "mandates" to harm others say no. Personally, I'd rather be fired than forced to hurt others. There's another job out there for you. 2. Resistance is Power. Oppression must respond to resistance. If nobody goes along, it must reroute. You have the power to change by dragging feet or abstaining. Think Montgomery bus boycott. 3. Reframe. DEI rarely benefited us. It was created as a stop gap to true anti-oppressive practice. Truly inclusive spaces don't need diversity support initiatives because it's embedded in the design. 4. Dream. Its all gone fall. Empires last 200-300 years. Be ready with the replacements. What would a ______ look like if untouched by colonialism. Schools, buildings, parks, homes, infrastructure. Imagine our future because you might be in a position to usher that vision forward. If you have been in the same job for two years or more and are made redundant you will usually be entitled to redundancy money. The legal minimum that you are entitled to receive is known as ‘statutory redundancy pay’. There are exceptions where you are not entitled to statutory redundancy pay, for example, if your employer offers to keep you on or offers you suitable alternative work which you refuse without good reason. #Redundancy #RedundancyPay
