One of the most dangerous phrases in sales is "I assumed". Never assume someone automatically knows what you are talking about. One example is below. I assumed when I told a contractor the material goes down with a squeegee that he knew what squeegee I was referring to. When i arrived at the jobsite and saw this, I knew this was going to be a fun day. Lesson learned. Some contractors need more details than others. You can never be too thorough when planning a project. Talk it through and ask questions. It pays off in the end. There is a difference between “the others” and Hansen Cold Storage Construction . Our PM’s know what’s going on in the field. We aren’t just empty suits with good marketing. People rely on the manufacturers to tell them what to order. Quantities etc. life’s easy when someone else is doing all the work for you. We estimate, sell, order the material, get it out into the field. Organize our guys etc. I bet “the others” don’t even know what the hell is going on in this picture. You’d have to know how they built things back in the day not just what’s on the most up to date bid set. As I reflect on my first 4 months in Sales at Winston Water Cooler , Ltd. , I’ve learned so much about the critical role supplies play in the construction industry, especially when it comes to piping, HVAC, and plumbing supplies. 🏗️💧 Being a woman in the construction space still feels like a rarity in a male-dominated industry, but it’s been such a rewarding experience to be part of a team that values fresh perspectives. As a woman in this field, I’ve gained confidence in my ability to navigate challenges and bring a unique perspective to the table. From helping ensure teams have the right materials to making sure projects stay on track, it’s become clear how much these supplies contribute to safety and productivity on-site. I’ve always admired the dedication my dad (Greg Maxwell) showed in this industry, and it’s something I’ve seen for so long. Now, I’m excited to apply my own drive for the sales industry and passion for people in a field that’s been a part of my life for years—supporting construction teams with the materials they need to be successful. I would note, I think it is a bit unfair to lump in assets above 100K SF as "big box" industrial assets because some could still have multiple sub 50K SF suites.
