Would you cycle to work if your city had better cycling lanes? 🚲 Our latest research shows that bike path availability is the top barrier among bike owners, closely followed by distance. It’s more important than ever for urban mobility to emphasize the fundamentals. Cities that offer efficient mobility with simple essentials — like cycling lanes — can buffer against risks like high living costs that threaten how and why people travel. 🌞 One of the things I love about working from the office is the chance to switch things up and bike to work. Not only do I get to enjoy the fresh air and a safe parking spot, but it's also a small step towards a greener Sofia / Bulgaria / 🌍. 🚗 Driving takes about 15 minutes (minus the parking hassle), while 🚲 biking takes just 17 minutes—plus, I burn 50 calories and save ~0.9kg of CO2 every trip. This year alone, I've: ✅ Saved 79kg of CO2 🌱 ✅ Biked 314km to the office 🚴♂️ ✅ Logged 1,610 active minutes 🕒 Big shoutout to Tumba Solutions for participating in the European Mobility Week initiative! It’s a great reminder that small changes can make a big difference—for you, your city, and the environment. Yes, breaking old habits can be tough, but after just a couple of rides, you'll be asking yourself: "When can I ride again?" 🚴❤️ #Sustainability #BikeToWork #HealthyLiving #EuropeanMobilityWeek #ClimateAction
Last week, our Tumba Team participated in the European Mobility Week Initiative, taking on the challenge to cycle and walk to work as part of our commitment to a more sustainable urban lifestyle. 🌱 We're excited to share the results: 🚴♂️ 237.05 km cycled 🚶♀️ 64.45 km walked 🏃♂️ 301.50 km total distance covered 📊 Active time: 24 hours 19 minutes 💨 CO2 saved: 75.42 kg A huge thank you to all the colleagues who participated in this challenge and to the WeRide.Today platform for helping us track our progress! https://buff.ly/3ZHM3vY We’ll keep on cycling! 🚴♀️💚 #EuropeanMobilityWeek #GreenLifestyle #UrbanMobility #TumbaTeam #CO2Reduction #ActiveLifestyle

Happy #WorldBicycleDay! We celebrated #WorldBicycleDay by reiterating many of the conclusions and recommendations from our recent report 'The path less travelled: Scaling Up Active Mobility to Capture Economic and Climate Benefits': >> Large-scale interventions to scale up walking and cycling are cost effective ways to decarbonize transport, improve access, health and safety >> Successful active mobility investments in low and middle-income countries are not only needed but also achievable and scalable through varied replicable mechanisms >> Case studies globally provide clear entry points and a path forward for financing active mobility: ~ Leverage existing financial flows to unlock and expand financing by integrating cycling into larger urban mobility investments such as mass transit. ~Use other entry points for financing outside of transportation portfolios such as urban development. ~Tap into emerging climate financing mechanisms including blended. financing You can read the report here: https://lnkd.in/ewi3pm9z
Today, UN #WorldBicycleDay, is an important moment to recognize the many reasons to fall in love with cycling: it’s a simple, affordable, and environmentally-friendly way to get around. Whether it’s part of your daily commute or part of your childhood experience, almost everyone has a personal connection with bicycles. Personally, I have very fond memories of watching the Tour de France from my family’s home in the Pyrenees mountains. We were so pleased to welcome Leszek Sibilski, founder of World Bicycle Day, at an event last week to mark the occasion. He emphasized the importance of the World Bank’s work to expand bicycle infrastructure in more developing countries. This is something that gained a stronger foothold during the pandemic, with many cities increasing demand for dedicated bike lanes combined with larger public transport projects. For more on how cycling – and active mobility more broadly – can help revitalize cities, take a look at a blog and report from my colleague Winnie Wang. https://lnkd.in/dJVxMEiN
