🕰 The timing of harvesting is crucial and influences the final quality of the coffee. There are three harvesting methods: 🌿 In the most traditional, called #picking, ripe drupes are picked manually, one at a time. This method is labour intensive, and the same coffee plant can be picked up to 10 times in a single harvest season. Picking is particularly suitable in equatorial areas with two rainy seasons, and in mountainous and other growing zones that are difficult to reach. 🌿 A second harvesting method is #stripping, in which all the cherries on a branch, including any unripe ones, are pulled off and dropped onto a sheet placed under the plant, with fruit selection being done after harvesting.  🌿  In the larger and flatter plantations – such as in the Cerrado Mineiro in Brazil – large #mechanical equipment is used for harvesting.
