Ever Wondered About Those Chevron Markings on the Roadside? 🤔 A chevron marking is ‘V’ shaped which points in a specific direction. Usually, you’ll see these markings as a sign at the bend of the road or a double chevron road mark called sharrows used to indicate a shared lane for bikes and vehicles. 🚧 Pictured below shows a chevron used for a different reason. They act as ground control points for mobile mapping, providing essential reference points to ensure the accuracy and alignment of 3D point clouds used in road design and infrastructure projects. Precise data = better planning and construction. 🚧🤳 Want to learn how mobile mapping with high-accuracy point clouds can benefit your next project? Let's chat! Our Expert Surveyors Kylie Thom and Graham Watson are here to help. 💪 #RoadScience #mobilemapping #pointcloud #roaddesign #infrastructure #NZtransport #ChevronMarkings P.S. We know what you're thinking – you'll probably start seeing these chevrons everywhere now! > 😂

Remember when there used to be a level crossing of a CP and CN/GO train line at Davenport Diamond that created delays? Now GO trains are using the new elevated guideway above busy streets and CP rail tracks and the Barrie line now has increased service as a result! Our team had a great time supporting a portion of the project with Geopier GeoConcrete Columns (GCCs) to hold up the 10-meter-high MSE wall as well as train traffic. It was quite an accomplishment to work as close as one meter away from an existing building! Yes, Geopier introduces vertical ramming energy into the ground, and this is a good thing because it's the hallmark of a high performance ground improvement system. ... and no vibration alarms were set off! It's good to know that you can use our systems incorporating vertical ramming energy to get the performance needed to support this major embankment/overpass, and with no disturbance to both a bypass rail within 6 feet of our work and an older building within 3 feet of our work! Commuters can trust the support provided by GeoSolv. Here's the complete story's link: https://bit.ly/47A8kxT @metrolinx @grahambuilds #DavenportDiamond #GoTrain #GeoSolv

HydroSurv and WASSP Multibeam have delivered a REAV-28 USV to Foyle Marine & Dredging, integrating advanced multibeam technology for efficient and cost-effective hydrographic surveys. This collaboration enhances data acquisition for marine construction and dredging, bridging the gap between single-beam and high-end multibeam systems. Foyle Marine & Dredging are set to deploy this solution in their upcoming projects. David Hull, Founder & CEO of HydroSurv, said, “We’ve seen growing demand from marine service operators outside of the survey supply chain for a solution that addresses the gap between single-beam echo sounder and high-end multibeam solutions. “Partnering with WASSP, we’ve been able to put a powerful tool into the hands of the team at Foyle Marine & Dredging that will drastically reduce the costs of repeated resurveys in their construction and dredging projectsˮ Find out more on the OST website.
