Fast forward to today, and trenchless technology has transformed the industry, offering innovative methods that minimize environmental impact and reduce costs. 🔧 In the early 20th century, traditional construction methods dominated, leading to enormous trenches and widespread disruption. The 1960s marked the beginning of a transformative era with the introduction of trenchless techniques, driven by a growing need for more efficient and less invasive solutions. By the 1980s and 1990s, technologies like Auger Boring, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), Pipe Bursting, and Microtunneling emerged, revolutionizing the way we approach underground construction. Over the course of the past few decades, trenchless engineering projects have deeply seated themselves as an integral facet to both the rehabilitation and development of global infrastructure. While this is no secret; this was certainly not by mistake either. Trenchless utility/pipeline installation decreases both the environmental impact and cost variable of traditional excavation while also significantly reducing disruption to surrounding areas. This approach allows new infrastructure to be replaced and/or constructed in a quick and efficient manner, even in the most sensitive areas, with minimal disturbance to landscapes and communities. As a member of The HDD Company CHPE project team, it has been remarkable to see so many people and organizations come together to collaborate for the advancement of powering New York into the future. This project is history in the making. There are so many variables involved within executing a deployment of this magnitude. Having a switched on team that you can rely on keeps things simple. Thanks to Longhorn Trucking Co., Inc, which has been with us every step of the way and allowed us to move kinetically across these various project locations. I don’t think I’ll ever not get excited watching big iron cycling material into a clean new Peterbilt and a MAC quad-axle end dump. This is drilling.
