A vulnerable and exciting update for my network: A little over a year ago, when I joined The Admin Effect as their Chief Marketing Officer, I stepped out of my comfort zone and really put my imposter syndrome to the test. I could confidently tell an office how many seminars they would need to hold to meet their growth goals for the year. I could identify gaps in branding and deliverables for a company, create and execute a social media calendar, and organize a client events schedule. However, I had no idea what Firelight was. I didn't know what a replacement application entailed. I didn't fully grasp the difference between a carrier and a custodian. The only thing I knew about a Roth IRA was simply that I had one. And don't even ask me to explain the difference between qualified and non-qualified funds. The list goes on... I share this because, in a matter of months, with the guidance and support of our incredible team, I learned what Firelight was (spoiler: it's not the song by Owl City). I learned the significance of IRA types in applications, and the difference between qualified and non-qualified funds. This knowledge allowed me to develop effective case management training, forecast how many applications our team can complete in a day, and streamline money movement timeframes and strategies. Let my experience during the past year be a testament to the true power of The Admin Effect. Our service offering, and ESPECIALLY our training program, was created with the framework that I followed to get to this point, and that our team has followed as well. A special shoutout to our Leadership Team for pushing me toward this opportunity and giving me the grace and confidence to take on this new role. In 2024: -January: I received the news that I achieved Pinnacle Club status for 2023. -February: I attended an exceptional Sales Kick Off in Minnesota, where I connected with a remarkable group of professionals. -March: I graduated with a Masters Degree. -April: I enjoyed an all-expenses-paid trip to Curacao as a reward for reaching Pinnacle Club status, creating unforgettable memories. -May: I Received news that the role I cherished for the past two years would be dissolved, necessitating adaptation to a new role or departure from the company. Upon hearing this news, I experienced a mix of fear and disappointment, especially after experiencing some of the most fulfilling months of my adult life. However, I refused to let this unfortunate news paralyze me. Instead, I sought clarity by asking pertinent questions and initiated discussions within my professional circles. These conversations led to valuable insights and opportunities. Though daunting, stepping into an uncertain future is a prerequisite for growth. I am determined to embrace this change and explore the new opportunities it brings.

I couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the year! The joy of receiving such an appreciative message from a direct report fills me with an immense sense of pride and fuels my drive to continue pushing forward. I can still vividly recall her journey when she first joined my team as a manager. Despite being an exceptional sales agent, she was hesitant about stepping into a leadership role. She lacked confidence, and I had to convince her to take the leap and embrace the challenges of becoming a manager. I believed in her, just as Kwaku Ofosuhene believed in me and gave me my chance. Fast forward to just two months into the role things weren’t easy for her. Her performance struggled, and she even considered returning to her previous role as an agent. I remember one particular month when a new KPI was introduced, and we needed to exceed it to avoid further performance-related consequences. The clock was ticking, and it was the final day of the month. I quickly stepped in, met with her in the afternoon, and we worked tirelessly until around 8pm, pushing ourselves to exceed that KPI. That moment marked a dramatic turnaround in her performance. As of today, she is the most consistent top performer of my team and yes women do exceptional well in sales. The biggest lessons I have learned from her journey are the power of embracing vulnerabilities and having the determination to improve. When you are willing to face challenges head-on and make the effort to get better, you are closer to your dreams than you realize. There are a lot more like her out there. This year, as a manager, take risks on people and support them to thrive. This is what keeps me inspired to do more. Here is to a year of growth, success, and endless possibilities! Happy New Year!

THE HISTORY AND PRESENT STATE OF THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IN AMERICA CAN BE SUMMED UP IN ONE WORD: BROKEN DON'T BE FOOLED BY SLICK PROMOTIONAL POSTS THAT MAKE IT SEEM LIKE YOUR LOCAL, STATE OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS ARE SOLVING THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS. WHEN IT COMES TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING, THE PUBLIC AND TAXPAYERS MUST ASK: AT WHAT COST TO THE TAXPAYERS AND HOW LONG IS THE AFFORDABILITY PERIOD? EVERY TAXPAYER SHOULD BE ASKING THEIR ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS: 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, density bonus increase, waivers of impact fees, or other government benefit or incentive did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project and, if the affordability period is not in perpetuity or permanent, WHY NOT? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants in the affordable housing units will not be displaced after an "affordability period expires? Any LOCAL, STATE or FEDERAL official that does not MANDATE "permanent" affordability periods or affordability "IN PERPETUITY" for any project receiving some government benefit is commiting MALFEASANCE and should quit, be removed from office or be terminated. IN MOST CASES WHEN IT COMES TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING, the public and taxpayer are being fooled into thinking their elected and appointed officials are solving problems, when in fact, all hey have done is "KICK THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD" to burden a future generation with the same problem or crisis!
