I have been to 10 operations in the last year, and what does surprise me is that not one restaurant manager or food and beverage manager pulled their teams together once a month . Prioritising team cohesion through regular meetings is important. Team communication and unity are crucial for the success of any establishment. Providing feedback or suggestions to the management could help improve the situation in future operations. The 10 operations that I have suggested doing once a month team meetings are doing so now and have less turnover over of staff. A simple message involving your staff in the hotel or restaurant operations you can learn a lot from them and they feel involved

Budget time again - Monday morning management team meeting today. Talking about 2025 and how we will shape that and what it will look like for the F&B team. The Head Chef, F&B Manager & Restaurant Manager will produce the F&B budget. It will be theirs to own so they MUST be the ones to write it. Only by being fully invested can they own it and deliver it. Sure as owners and managers of the business we need to make it clear what our expectations of bottom line are but the budget must be realistic, achievable and have a strategy as to how it will be achieved.

It's unfortunate that I have seen only today in a country house hotel outside Leeds that some young restaurant managers lack proficiency in etiquette, as it plays a crucial role in creating a positive and professional atmosphere for both guests and staff. My training with your young restaurant managers. Restaurant managers should learn etiquettes for the following reasons Enhanced Guest Experience Managers who possess strong etiquette skills can create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for guests. By greeting guests warmly, demonstrating proper tableside manners, and resolving any issues with professionalism, managers contribute to a memorable dining experience that encourages guests to return and recommend the restaurant to others. Effective Leadership and Team Management Etiquette extends beyond interactions with guests and also encompasses how managers communicate and interact with their staff. Managers who demonstrate respect, professionalism, and effective communication skills can inspire their team members to uphold high standards of service and professionalism. This fosters a positive work culture, improves staff morale, and enhances overall productivity and efficiency in the restaurant.

Restaurant operators often feel alone and overwhelmed. We accept to be in the pressure cooker without anyone to share the load. But hear me out: no matter how brilliant your mind, you can't conquer this solo game. I learned the power of teamwork the hard way. Years ago, during a mammoth project, I thought I was invincible. Management pulled my team, leaving me adrift in a sea of complexities. It was a grueling battle, but I emerged with a newfound appreciation: a great team is the secret sauce. Success in the multi-unit restaurant world simply requires more hands than yours. Identify your skill gaps and find the right people to fill them. For me, it was marketing and sales expertise. Building this team? It's an amazing journey of mutual growth and accomplishment. The prospect of change might be daunting but remember: dreading decisions won't make problems vanish. Don't become a prisoner in your own business. Open your doors to a supportive team, and watch your restaurant empire truly take flight. The parts that make up a successful restaurant business are numerous. You can always consider an outside party to provide competent help like, whether this could be for solving a challenge in your restaurant or a more permanent collaboration like . Who agrees? Share your team-building wins and let's celebrate the power of collaboration!

𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 In the fast-paced world of Food & Beverage, success isn’t just about great food and impeccable service—it’s about teamwork. As an F&B manager with over a decade of experience, I’ve seen firsthand how teamwork transforms ordinary service into extraordinary guest experiences. Here’s how we can incorporate effective teamwork in a restaurant setting for the best results: 1. 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: From the kitchen to the floor, communication is key. Regular briefings before service ensure that everyone is on the same page, anticipating needs before they arise. 2. 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The relationship between the culinary and service teams can make or break a guest’s experience. Foster respect and understanding between these teams to deliver seamless service. 3. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞: Leadership isn’t just about giving orders—it’s about showing your team what’s possible through action. Step into the trenches when needed and create an environment where no task is too small for anyone. 4. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦: Trust your team to make decisions. When people feel empowered, they’re more engaged, and engaged employees deliver better results. 5. 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫: Whether it’s a glowing review or a flawless event, make sure the whole team celebrates wins. Acknowledging everyone’s contributions strengthens morale and builds a culture of collaboration. 𝖳𝖾𝖺𝗆𝗐𝗈𝗋𝗄 𝗂𝗌𝗇’𝗍 𝗃𝗎𝗌𝗍 𝖺 𝗌𝗄𝗂𝗅𝗅—𝗂𝗍’𝗌 𝖺 𝗆𝗂𝗇𝖽𝗌𝖾𝗍.
