The Short Version: Ancora Ministries is trying to raise $15,000 this month to buy a 2nd vehicle in Guatemala, and I’m not going to shave until we have what we need. Nobody wants to look at my scruffy mug, so would you consider donating to this campaign? https://lnkd.in/gPshB-eF The Longer Version: We might be on Day #921 of Silly Socks (You’ll find them in the comments.) but it’s Day #7 of No Shave July/Summer/However Long It Takes. If you know me, you know I do silly stuff to being attention to things I think are important. Things like helping Ancora eradicate child hunger & malnutrition in Central Texas and Guatemala. This particular stunt is about the Guatemala part. Guatemala is somewhat spread out, and turns out, it takes multiple teams to serve the 20 communities where Ancora has nutrition programs. Currently we have 2 teams and 1 vehicle to serve a geographic footprint that takes 7 hours to drive from northernmost community to southernmost. We need to buy another used vehicle so that both of our teams can serve their geographic areas. True Story: If we’re going to make a difference in the malnutrition fight, we’re going to need the infrastructure - like personnel and transportation - to do it. This fundraiser is hugely important in helping us serve the kids in our 20 communities, AND it sets us up to continue to add children (and communities) to our programs. Join us in making a difference with Optima Living's annual Food Bank Day Challenge! This annual initiative helps build community through compassion and goes beyond donations—it's about uniting to support those in need and spread goodwill. Why is supporting food banks so vital? Across Canada, many struggle with food insecurity. Last year, we donated over 20,000 pounds (about 9300 kg) of food, providing 24,650 meals. This year, we're aiming even higher—30,000 pounds (about 13,600 kg)! Every can and dollar counts, directly helping those in need. Participating means bolstering local economies and strengthening community bonds. From now until September 6th, our Alberta and BC residences will compete to gather the most donations, adding a fun and spirited element to our efforts. Get involved by donating non-perishable food items or a monetary amount at your nearest Optima Living residence. https://lnkd.in/gJYi6NEZ Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Together, let's exceed our goals, inspire hope, and create lasting change. Show what the #OptimaWay is all about—compassion, community, and making a positive impact. #OptimaLiving #FoodBankChallenge #CommunitySupport #GivingBack

We need your help to provide another 1,000 VF100 water filters to families in Chimaltenango, Guatemala. 💧🇬🇹 Our water project in the rural community outside of Chimaltenango has already provided 1,000 VF100 water filters to low income families. But there are still families lacking this essential, lifesaving resource. Guatemala is the number one country in Latin America for child malnutrition. Its levels of stunting in children under the age of five is close to 50%. Only half the population has access to uncontaminated drinking water that is readily available. Currently there is no clean water infrastructure in the community we are working in. If a family isn’t able to purchase bottled water from a market, they have no option but to drink water that can make them sick. Together let's change and save lives, one water filter at a time. Your charitable contributions are tax deductible and go directly toward providing clean, safe drinking water in developing rural communities. Give today. Give clean water. Save lives. 💧 #waterforlifecharity #bewaterforlife #chimaltenango #cleanwaterguatemala #waternonprofit https://lnkd.in/g9zVcyjs

Foodbank’s Australia 2024 Hunger report highlights the hunger crisis that is gripping Australian communities with 3.4 million households experiencing food insecurity over the past 12 months. This latest data shows the critical need for continued food donations to support families in need. This problem isn’t unique to Australia, with one in five children in New Zealand living in households also experiencing moderate to severe food insecurity. Over the past decade, Kellanova has donated over 65 million serves of our food to support families across Australia and New Zealand via our charity partners, including Foodbank Australia and the New Zealand Food Network. As part of our Better Days Promise, we believe that no one should go hungry and have committed to donating 100 million serves of food across Australia and NZ by 2030. #BetterDays Read the latest Foodbank report here: http://spr.ly/6040qxRgs
