How does your family "market" Santa? Everything I knew about Santa as a kid, I learned from movies: A Miracle on 34th Street, The Santa Clause, Elf...my parents didn't go out of their way to pretend that Santa was real (they didn't tell me Santa wasn't real, either (...sorry to be the bearer of bad news if you didn't already know...)). On the other hand, my husband's family had a lot of fun traditions, like finding "warm feelings" on the wall to hang their stockings, or opening family gifts on Christmas Eve and having Santa's gifts appear on Christmas Day. I think if you've grown up in a Christmas household, you probably have traditions that feel are just "true" about Santa, but as someone who didn't grow up with such traditions and is now navigating through it as a parent, it really feels like Santa is a fun exercise in brand positioning and marketing. I am still figuring out the kinks of how I'm presenting Santa - a luxury when your target audience is 3 and younger - but will report back in a year or two of where we've landed. 😝 So again, how is Santa marketed in your household? #brandpositioning #marketing #santaclaus #familytraditions

I always ask my team, “ what do you want out of this job.” They’re never truly sure how to answer that question, and that’s ok. Deep down I know what they want and I do my best to give it to them. * Work/life balance is #1 for me. I don’t force OT as I trust they can get the work they need to get done within the hours they work * Training, I want them to strive to be the best version of themselves which will translate to an excellent team member. * Proper tools/equipment to work safely and efficiently. There’s always more to add to to an endless list, but as leaders, listening to your team is so important. You’ll start to pick things up they’re saying without them having to say them.
Food for thoughtful Thursdays.
