It's now free to sell your pre-owned clothes on eBay. Great news for the circular economy has come out today from eBay to help reduce clothes ending up in landfill and fight the onslaught of fast fashion. From today, when buying and selling 2nd hand clothes you will not be charged any fees from the marketplace site. This is a great step forward for the circular economy, making it even easier for people to buy and sell clothes and breathe new life into unwanted fashion items. A surge in shoplifting and in-store violence is hitting fashion retailers and brands hard: impacting staff, customers and the bottom line. The numbers paint a bleak picture. Today, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) revealed a 50% year-on-year increase in levels of retail violence and abuse to 1,300 incidents a day, in its latest retail Crime Survey. The cost of theft doubled to £1.8bn in 2022/23 with over 45,000 incidents a day, the survey revealed, and 60% of retail respondents said the police response to incidents was “poor” or “very poor”.
