While our Facility work is resting & waiting for Mid March installations to start, our great contractors are busy fabricating the structural & piping at their home facilities. We have been busy clearing the Right of Way for the connecting pipeline to be installed later this year between them.. Wonderfully mild temps has helped with progression, even with the week long cold snap!!

Question... Is a modular space only stand (sub 4m high, built from Links or similarly recognised aluminium modular structure) a stand which requires onsite, visual, sign off by a structural engineer? In the UK, we always have had these signed off but I'd like to argue we don't since these modular systems already have structural calculations validating they are fit for purpose. When built by a competent and qualified contractor, surely there is no need for an engineer to come along and confirm its been properly built? Why don't space only contractors sign off on these as do the shell scheme contractor? I would be interested to hear peoples views on this as maybe we need to tighten up our terminologies and have 3 categories of stands, these being: Shell schemes, Space Only's (sub 4m) and lastly Space Only's (over 4m) and Custom Builds. Space Only's over 4m and Custom Builds would be the only ones requiring structural sign off.
