[Mitigate your Business Risk with Tribhakti: Coal Transshipment Edition] Unlike the seller (the shipper) who can always keep an eye on everything and every event at the loading port, the buyer, especially the overseas one due to the distance, may not be practicable. They could then appoint a surveyor company to become a witness on their behalf to look over the purchasing cargo, inspect the condition and the availability of the carrier, observe the shipment process, and last but not least, scrutinize the performance of the rolling independent surveyor (see. QQ). The witness service will turn out to be more multifaceted if the cargo is first loaded into some barges at one or more jetties near the coal stockpile(s) before hauling the seagoing-mother-vessel which awaiting on the anchorage some several miles offshore, the process which is known as the “transshipment”. Whatever your role in the coal mining supply chain, our more than 30 years of experience can help you improve productivity, assess quality, and most importantly, reduce your business risk. As an independent surveying company recognized by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to perform Domestic and Export Verification of Coal (LHV & LS), we offer integrated services for coking coal inspection from upstream to downstream from coal exploration services, production, stockpiling, sampling for barges/vessels, until issuing LS and/or LHV as mandated by the Indonesian Government. CEO of Bumi Resources Mining Company Opens Up About Coal Downstreaming The coal mining emittent with the largest production in Indonesia, Bumi Resources (BUMI), is reported to be seeking strategic partners from China. This was disclosed by Independent Director, also serving as the Corporate Secretary of BUMI, Dileep Srivastava. In his statement, Dileep revealed that BUMI is targeting this year to secure funding access, enabling the company to move to the next phase, namely construction. "This year, the financial closing is targeted to be executed to be ready for the next construction phase," clarified Dileep in his statement. He did not specify the amount of funds needed for this coal downstreaming project and the financing structure between the company and potential partners from China. Some time ago, the President Director of PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI), Adika Nuraga Bakrie, stated that the coal downstreaming project carried out by subsidiaries PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) and PT Arutmin Indonesia involves coal gasification transforming into ammonia. Previously, the two coal subsidiaries of the Bakrie Group planned to develop coal downstreaming products into methanol, but this was not implemented due to various factors, including market considerations. Dileep revealed that the economic value of the downstreaming project is highly sensitive to the selling price of the products. Additionally, several other components, including government regulations such as PNBP Coal 0%, special coal price permits, tax holiday, and other incentives, also affect the project. Nevertheless, he mentioned that the BUMI Group will comply with applicable regulations. Contact us if your company needs a coal supply,we are directly connected to mining sources. STEAM COALS insight Indonesian coal producer Baramulti Suksessarana (BSSR) has set a lower production target this year, saying it will focus on boosting operational efficiency at its mines in response to a recent decline in coal prices. BSSR aims to produce 18mn t this year based on its work plan and budget approved by Indonesia's energy ministry. This is a 16pc decline from its 2023 output. It expects its coal sales to reach just over 18mn t this year, with the additional volume coming from coal stockpiled from last year's production. BSSR has earmarked $81mn for capital expenditure this year, most of which will be used for mining and infrastructure development, as well as heavy equipment renewals as part of the company's plan to further develop its coal mine in Samarinda in east Kalimantan, it said. The mine in Samarinda accounted for 26pc of the company's total output in 2023. The mine is in close proximity to Samarinda city which limits the maximum allowable mining area, prompting BSSR to develop the mine up to its allowable limit without expanding the work area, the company said. BSSR also has a coal mine in south Kalimantan which accounts for the remaining 74pc of its production. The company produces GAR 3,400-4,100kcal/kg coal from its two mines. BSSR said that its coal is usually used for blending purposes by consumers. China is the company's largest market, accounting for 54.47pc of its total sales in 2023. India and South Korea are second and third, making up 14pc and 4.63pc of the remaining sales volume respectively. Local sales made up 21.89pc in 2023. BSSR did not rule out the possibility of increasing its production in the second half of the year as it has the capability to do so. But the company said that it will do so only if coal prices increase for the remainder of the year. Prices of Indonesian GAR 4,200 kcal/kg coal were last assessed by Argus at $53.83/t fob Kalimantan on 21 June, down from a 2023 peak of $90.41/t reached in January last year. #Bayan Roars Ahead! Coal Giant Smashes Production and Sales Targets 💥 Defying expectations, @PT Bayan Resources Tbk (IDX: BYAN), #Indonesia's coal mining powerhouse, has delivered a resounding performance in the first quarter of 2024. In a display of operational prowess, Bayan's coal output soared to a staggering 14 million metric tons, leaving their budget projections of 10.5 million MT in the dust. 🚩 This stellar performance was fueled by a lower-than-anticipated stripping ratio and a surge in overburden production, setting the stage for an exceptional quarter. #Bayan's coal sales volumes followed suit, reaching an impressive 12.2 million MT, surpassing both their budget and the previous year's figures. 📈 👉 Read the full article for detailed insights and updates: https://lnkd.in/g3Qhjpyj Don't miss out on the latest updates from Indonesia's coal industry. What will Indonesia's coal phase-down look like under a new government? In The Business Times today (https://bt.sg/g/DGny), Sharanya Pillai discusses how the nickel processing boom and coal mining are intertwined. I shared my views. In short: 🦉The heart of the matter is captured in the first draft of the Nov 2023 JETP plan, where Indonesia argues for conditional targets to apply only to the on-grid power sector. 🦉Basically, Indonesia wants off-grid "captive" power plants - many of which burn coal to supply 24-hour power to critical minerals processing facilities in remote areas - to be excluded. 🦉Because cheap coal is so deeply entrenched into Indonesian economy, phasing it out has been politically challenging for Jokowi and will remain so for any incoming government. 🦉Annual coal consumption rose under Jokowi’s tenure. It wouldn't be a surprise if this trend continues under Prabowo. 🦉But let's see! The private sector could take the lead. If there is enough pressure from EV consumers and investors, battery makers may consider giving up some of their margins to invest in cleaner supply chains.

Analyzing Cobalt Production in Southeast Asian Countries Southeast Asia has emerged as a crucial player in the global cobalt market. Let's dive into the production figures across the region. Myanmar: Myanmar stands out as a significant cobalt producer in Southeast Asia. According to the Myanmar Ministry of Mines, the country produced approximately 15,000 metric tons of cobalt in 2023, primarily sourced from the Letpadaung Copper Mine. Vietnam: Vietnam is also making strides in cobalt production. Data from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam indicates a steady increase, with production reaching around 8,500 metric tons in 2023. Philippines: The Philippines has shown promising potential in cobalt production. Based on data from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, the country produced approximately 12,000 metric tons of cobalt in 2023, with significant contributions from nickel mining operations in Surigao del Norte. Indonesia: Indonesia remains a key player in the cobalt market. Figures from the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources highlight robust production, estimated at 22,000 metric tons in 2023. The country's extensive nickel reserves contribute significantly to its cobalt output. Southeast Asian countries collectively produced over 57,500 metric tons of cobalt in 2023, underscoring the region's growing importance in the global supply chain. This trend is driven by increasing demand for cobalt in electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy technologies. #Mining #Southeastasia #RenewableEnergy #EVs #DataDriven
