You will fail and quite often that is maybe the best thing that ever happened to you!! Losing is a powerful teacher and one of the best ways to learn resilience! You are not a winner for doing what is expected. And that’s ok! Doing what is expected does not justify awards! This may be controversial but have company recognition programs gone a little too far! Do most sacrifice quality for largesse! In the effort to make people happy, potentially compensate for your own Rewards programs not delivering or an unclear or poorly articulated Employee Value Propostion are we missing the forest for the trees! Don’t get me wrong, I am all for recognition but it needs to be: - Immediate or as close to the occurrence/situation - Delivered in specificity - Sometimes just a personal note or message or conversation/thank you is enough - the Awards shouldn’t show up as currency in the mid/end year conversation - Scarcity is to be valued - Shouldn’t be gamed to spread it around Tell me if I am getting this wrong!

Are Awards Losing Their Shine? As professionals, we're no strangers to the allure of awards. They're the gold stars of our careers, shining symbols of recognition for hard work and dedication. But lately, I can't help but feel like something's missing. In today's corporate landscape, awards seem to be more about deep pockets than deep impact. It's disheartening to see prestigious accolades turned into commodities, where the highest bidder takes the trophy. Shouldn't recognition be earned, not bought? I believe it's time to reclaim the true essence of awards. We need recognition that's based on merit, not monetary contributions. It's not about how much you can afford to pay, but rather about the value you bring. 🌟 It's Time for a Change 🌟 I'm calling on all organizations to embrace genuine recognition. Let's celebrate those who truly deserve it, not just those who can afford it. 💪 Join me in championing authentic recognition. Together, let's ensure that awards regain their rightful place as symbols of true achievement. Tag the companies below, who you think are genuinely giving "Authentic" Awards. Would love to know about companies that still follow a genuine practice. #genuinerecognition #criteriaovercurrency #authenticawards #awards #genuineconcern #support #honestawards

🌟 Embrace Your Journey: Beyond the Glitter of Awards 🌟 As professionals, it's incredibly rewarding to be recognised for our hard work and dedication. Awards serve as shining moments in our journey, affirming our efforts and accomplishments. 🏆 But let's remember, they are just that—moments in time. 🕰️ While it's important to celebrate our achievements, it's equally vital to keep our eyes firmly set on the path ahead. 🚀 Our true measure of success lies not solely in the accolades we've amassed, but in the relentless pursuit of growth and progress. 🌱 As we bask in the glow of recognition, let's use this as fuel to propel us forward. Let's channel our energy into what lies beyond the glittering ceremonies and accolades—the endless possibilities waiting to be explored, the challenges waiting to be conquered, and the innovations waiting to be born. 💡 Remember, our journey is far from over. Let's leverage the inspiration of our past victories to illuminate the path to our future triumphs. Together, let's continue to strive, evolve, and make our mark on the world 💪 An award makes you happy on the night you receive it, and potentially that excitement lasts for a few days after, but it is getting to work with a brilliant team day in and day out, receiving unsolicited feedback from happy partners and customers, and helping our patients, the people we serve, is the best award that money can't buy. Be your best, have integrity, be satisfied, and treat people with kindness and your 'money can't buy' award will soon arrive. #KeepPushingForward #FutureFocus #somethingincredible

Changing the narrative for women in scrap and metal recycling one day at a time 🏗️ Director of Connolley Metals ♻️ Founder of Women In Scrap 💪 Ex-model. Weight lifter.
There are some really great young people coming through in our industry right now. They're diligent, they're working hard. But if we don't start investing in them in more ways than just a bit of training, we’re not going to retain them. They're going to just keep jumping from place to place. There’s a different way of working now, and I do get it. The whole world is on offer to every single one of us. Why would you stay in the same place for decades when you know you can get more for your effort somewhere else? We’ve got an ageing workforce in our industry, and a lot of that ageing workforce get a bit stuck in their ways and think “I've done my time, I’ve worked hard. I wasn’t treated that well when I was coming up through the ranks, so therefore the new people should be treated the same way”. But we need to change that. We need to invite them to the conferences. Get them trying out different roles in the organisation. Introducing them to the people that can take them to the next level. Build their confidence. It’s up to us.

Today we celebrate the International Day of Education 📚 Here at Randstad, we recognise just how important it is to provide quality education and skilling that goes beyond the educational institutions of our youth. The appetite for access to continued learning, future-proofing skills and genuine development opportunities stood as a central pillar in our latest #Workmonitor report. In fact, those working in education told us that management & leadership skills, coaching & mentoring and communications & presentation skills were among the top five opportunities they wanted to upskill within. A quarter (24%) of participants working in education would go as far as quitting their jobs if they weren’t offered learning and development opportunities to future-proof their skills. Education is a lifelong right, and we are committed to championing the world’s workforce as it continues to support talent to learn, grow and develop 💙 Take a look at our Workmonitor report to learn more about our findings: https://hubs.la/Q02hxxxg0 #InternationalDayOfEducation #EducationDay #RandstadWorkmonitor
