In my latest Fireplace Specialist Magazine column, I point out that very basic communication and marketing failures are not only harming our industry, but giving its opponents a boost. For too long, sections of the solid fuel industry have failed to grasp the importance of a strategic communications plan, let alone any understanding of public affairs. They think they understand it because they’re in the chimney and fireplace industry. It’s the E-Myth writ large. Remember, these are very same folk who berate people for installing their own stoves or sweeping their own chimneys. ‘Hire a professional!’ they cry. Indeed. And this industry now needs properly briefed experts who - crucially - understand public affairs comms tactics and strategy, like never before. Well-meaning, but knee-jerk and poorly-targeted responses, are not only harming our industry, but boosting the profile of its detractors. You couldn’t make it up. It’s time for those who say ‘leave it to the professionals’ to follow their own advice. Our industry would be in a much stronger position for it.
The March/April Fireplace Specialist Edition is out now packed with great content about the industry including a Progetto Fuoco review by Mark Blewitt, the usual column by Mr Soot David Sudworth and news of successful 'women on fire' Heather Emery and Allison Wright. Not to mention the huge news that the release of Howard Pym's electricty producing Super Stove is imminent. Check it out 🔥 👇 https://lnkd.in/gNaaFfBS

Remember to register for the final town hall event in Adelaide at 6:30pm Wednesday 12th June. It could not be explained any better than how Vanessa Cheng has outlined in this short video. Parents and students of faith aligned schools seek a positive right of choice for education to be aligned to their beliefs, with clear protections for schools to employ and educate in line with religious and moral values. What is required? Legislative clarity is required to allow for faith institutions (be it schools or places of worship) the protection to teach and practice their religious and moral beliefs. To remove any doubt, its parents and students that make the choice of faith aligned schooling, and the choice is to be taught by a system that supports and is consistent with their faith and choice in morals and religious practice. Be it belief about spiritual matters or beliefs around identity. I sincerely pray that the existing government and future governments uphold existing religious freedom and expression. Unfortunately proposed changes will erode this religious freedom and diversity of choice for Parents and Students. A positive event to attend and support. https://lnkd.in/gJ6y3ZwP

Join Lambda Alpha International (LAI) Land Economics Foundation (LEF) for an informative presentation - Barrier to Affordability: How Current Property Tax Policies Impact Land Development in the Memphis Medical District. This project, funded in part by the Land Economics Foundation (LEF), involves a comprehensive examination of academic and trade literature related to property tax, land assembly, and vacant or underutilized land, focusing on their connection to urban redevelopment. Additionally, the project includes empirical analysis of redevelopment data to investigate the real-world obstacles to urban infill redevelopment in Memphis. These obstacles include vacant land assembly, regulatory policies, stakeholder conflicts, and political constraints. https://lnkd.in/eWSAciRr
