The world's population is expected to grow by a quarter, from 8 to 10 billion, within the next three decades. That makes the work we, our partners and our customers do — transforming the ways people move, build and live — more important each day. It's an awesome responsibility. It's our life's work. And we wouldn't have it any other way. #WorldPopulationDay

Will age diversity define the workforce of the future? The World Health Organization projects that the proportion of the world’s population that is over 60 will nearly double from 12% to 22% by 2050. * The workforce is changing rapidly — in the coming decades, we will see greater numbers of generations in the workplace at one time. * Individuals and organizations at large have the opportunity to adapt to the changing requirements and opportunities of an age-diverse workforce. https://lnkd.in/gHUSU96T #ageingworkforce #agediversity #workforce #culture

“This year’s survey spotlights two generations who are grappling with financial insecurity, high stress levels and mounting climate anxiety. They are also considering how rapidly evolving technology, like GenAI, will impact their jobs and their longer-term career decisions. The report revealed that over 55% of Gen Z and millennials are living by making ends meet. This has destroyed their financial security, adding to their overall stress and anxiety. “ #genz #management #culture #leadership #humanresources

Presenting trends for the year ahead is serious business. Perhaps that explains the face I’m making here? 🤦🏻♂️ We’ve launched McCrindle’s Trends of the Year for 2024, presenting eight megatrends shaping the year ahead. One of the trends we highlight is what we’ve labelled Community Redefined. In 2024 we expect to hear more about the challenge of social isolation as more of our lives are lived online, especially among Gen Z who by most studies are experiencing this most acutely. Leaders who facilitate ways to reimagine community — in workplaces, schools, families, social groups and neighbourhoods — will be on the front foot in providing for this timeless human need. This is a screenshot from our launch event which you can access online (link below). It shows new data from a nationally representative survey of 1,002 Australians. Around 1 in 3 people say they are gathering at a local park, going out to dinner, and meeting for coffee less than they were three years ago (black bar). People are socialising differently in 2024. Does this surprise you? What have you observed in your context? Have you witnessed any great ways people have cultivated authentic community? #socialtrends #mccrindle #trendsof2024 #socialresearch

🌎 Gen Z: The first truly global generation, yet shaped by local nuances. While 58% of Americans recognize the term "Gen Z," awareness drops to 24% in China and only 8% in India. Understanding these cultural and historical differences is vital, as is recognizing the diverse values and expectations within this generation. And "baby boomer" concepts may not resonate everywhere! For effective communication and product development, embrace generational diversity. Regarding the World Happiness Report, Thai people's happiness follow the global U-shape pattern. The young (aged below 30) are the most happiest. The middle (aged 31-59) are the least happiest. The old (aged 60 and above) are happier than the middle but not as much as the young. Some quick facts: There are 6 main factors contributing to people's happiness. 1. GDP per capita 2. Healthy life expectancy 3. Social support 4. Freedom to make life choices 5. Generosity 6. Perception of corruptions Thailand is ranked as the 58th happiest country in the world. However, comparing to other countries, absence of corruption contributes to Thai people's happiness the least (at the bottom 10), while being generous contributes to Thai people's happiness the most (at the top 5). 🔍 U-shape? What U-shape? Researchers have used Gallup World Poll data to plot happiness of different generations: on a global level, a childhood peak is evident, but the drop into middle-age appears to remain constant, when taking all regions into account. But it’s not the case everywhere! Take these two regions, for example. 📉 Central and Eastern Europe’s younger population is, on average, much happier than their older counterparts. 📈 But in North America and ANZ, the reverse is true. Many believe that the economic picture in their countries will improve over the next year, and that this will have a positive impact on their own personal finances. And, despite concerns seen in last year’s survey that employers might backtrack on workplace progress as they faced economic uncertainty, this year’s findings reveal that respondents feel their employers have continued to make incremental progress since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in areas such as work/life balance; flexibility at work; societal impact; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); and protecting the environment.2 However, respondents continue to express significant concerns about the future. The cost of living is once again their top concern this year, followed by unemployment, climate change, mental health, and crime/personal safety. There is uncertainty about how Generative AI (GenAI) could impact work and their own careers. And they believe business is still falling short of its potential to address some of the world’s most critical societal challenges from protecting the environment, to social inequality.
