I think I have the most fun job in the EV world at the moment, working together with enthusiasts and experts from all over the world finding ways to accelerate the EV uptake. Using our small market in Norway as a laboratory for the rest of the world, we aim to cause some ripple effect outside our borders. The success in Norway has been built on a foundation of EU supply side policies towards the automotive industry combined with a package of consumer-friendly demand side policies implemented by the Norwegian government. But the national policies didn’t come out off nothing. EV drivers’ voice can be a force for change when organized, and that’s what we are working towards in this project. Here’s a small update from last month, when our team had some friends over. Partners from Brazil, Chile, Mexico, India and South Africa came together for a week of sharing best practices, learning from each other and not least planning for cooperation across borders in the years ahead. Electric vehicles (EVs) have become a dominant force, with global sales reaching nearly 14 million in 2023, led by China, which accounts for almost 60% of EV registrations. China's government has focused on promoting new energy vehicles (NEVs) while limiting the growth of internal combustion engines (ICE), spurring rapid market growth. Chinese automakers, like BYD, are expanding internationally, aided by advancements in battery technology, particularly lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and sodium-ion batteries. As a result, China has emerged as a global leader in EV production, exports, and innovation. #BatteryTechnology #China #ChineseAutomakers #ElectricVehicles #EVMarket #GlobalEVSales #LFPBatteries #NEV #PHEV Follow F&L Asia Ltd. for more industry updates here: https://lnkd.in/fGDzetn Subscribe here: https://lnkd.in/g-9sDz3PIn

Has there become a real market for converting light personal vehicles like small motor cycles and small outboard boat engines from ICE to electric in Europe, South America, North America, Africa? I know there are some, but which are the technical front runners (easiest, cheapest conversions) and what is the relevance to impact the BEV penetration of personal mobility? Such development would impact the mindset of a major part of the population and keep driving the need for charging infrastructure.

"I was determined this would be the last gas-powered car we’d be driving on the regular. Surely by the time the lease ended in “far-off” 2024, I reasoned, there would be enough of a charging infrastructure built out to make the switch to an EV a worry-free one..."
