Hola, Happy New Year! What are your New Year's resolutions? Don't worry—be happy—feel free to bypass the urge. For the moment... I tend towards Caulfield's take, the perennial skeptic in the Frazz comic strip by Jef Mallett. Why get caught up in first-of-the-year resolution-making? Setting goals and resolutions is vital for personal growth and mental health. But it should be an ongoing year-long endeavor! As applied to my vineyard practices, it involves: Cataloging vineyard activities as they occur—good and bad. Building on the good, rectifying the bad. Developing a plan and following it. Then, I will apply course corrections as needed, using gained experience and research. My resolution is to change as conditions warrant! One of the methods I've used to keep my vineyard tasks on track involves chronicling the four years I've spent planning, planting, and tending to the vineyard. You'll find my Chronicles on Marshall's Wine Encore website (https://lnkd.in/gthawcf2). My latest post includes 2024 Vineyard Season Lessons Learned (https://lnkd.in/eQ7wM9uf). As you may imagine, I've not only chronicled these experiences and learned practices for my edification but also hope to assist those following their own vineyard and winemaking journeys. All in all, 2025 looks bright, New Year resolutions or not, may you and yours be well and fruitful in 2025!

Comfort in discomfort. It feels like the seasons are passing quickly, already the farmers are rushing to harvest their crops where I live. Last night after yoga at 21.15 the sky was dark already. This time of year I often lament the summer, it passes so quickly, its easy to forget that the days have been fading since June when we are in the midst of the heady days of sunshine. But the evening Yorkshire air is changing, I can almost smell the season starting to change and I don't like it. I also know its normal, it goes without saying and this feeling is not unusual, it visits every year. I can take comfort in the discomfort, the familiar sense that the world keeps turning, time passes by regardless of how we feel about it, what we want and crave. August leads to September, back to school, college fresh changes and challenges. A shift in focus. Life isn't meant to be comfortable, we are designed to embrace challenges and still find joy. Whether that's the mixed emotions of the harvest and impending autumn, the tiny black thunder bugs it brings or squeezing out the last drops of sunshine. How do you feel this time of year? Photo is of a combine harvesting wheat into a trailer pulled by a tractor, in the distance is a wood and another tractor and trailer ready to receive the crop. There are piles of stray waiting to be baled. #endofsummer #turnoftheseasons #harvesttime #backtoschool #findingjoy #comfortindiscomfort #passingoftime #autumniscoming

If you spend your time chasing butterflies, they'll fly away. But if you spend your time making a beautiful garden, the butterflies will come to you. When you focus on improving yourself, everything you want will come to you. We attract based on who we are, not what we want. Don't chase, attract. Happy Friday💕 #selfconfidence #successmindset #growthmindset

Autumn is a time for reflection and reset, just like a garden preparing for harvest. 🍁 As the year winds down, it’s natural to feel like the seeds we planted at the start of the year may not have fully blossomed. But just like in a garden, the harvest comes with patience, care, and the willingness to adjust. Now is the perfect time to reflect on the growth you’ve experienced, celebrate the progress, and reset your approach for the final stretch of the year. Here are 3 ways to reset your yearly goals, using the garden as your guide: 1. Pull the Weeds: Take stock of what’s holding you back—whether it’s distractions or limiting beliefs—and clear them out. 2. Nurture What’s Thriving: Focus on the habits or projects that are showing promise, and give them the attention they deserve. 3. Plant New Seeds: It’s not too late to plant small, intentional actions that will continue to grow even as the year comes to a close. Remember, a garden doesn’t grow overnight, and neither do we. But with the right care, we can still enjoy the fruits of our labour. What “weeds” are you pulling as you reset for the final quarter of the year? Let me know in the comments, or reach out if you’re looking for help with your autumn reset! #AutumnReset #GoalSetting #PersonalGrowth #HarvestYourGoals
