Having come from the Mainframes, UNIX, DBA background, and used to write scripts in REXX, JCL, Perl, Shell, etc.. am always a believer that a good system/security admin must have scripting skills.. recommendation to administrators of O365, Azure AD, Intune and other SaaS platform admins - if one wants to get into depth, get to know internals, scripting and automation is key.. custom scripts play a pivotal role in business process automation and left shifting of the routing work.. personally, fascinated by what GraphAPI, Powershell and KQL brings on to the table! Enhancing Data Redundancy and Availability with DFS Replication on Windows Server 2022 Distributed File System (DFS) Replication is a valuable feature in Windows Server 2022 that allows organizations to replicate files between multiple servers for data redundancy and availability. This technology plays a crucial role in ensuring that files are consistently available to users and offers a level of fault tolerance in case of server failures or network issues. In this article, we will explore the benefits of DFS Replication and provide a guide on how to implement and manage this feature in a Windows Server 2022 environment. #replication #windowsserver #micorsoft #dfs #mehregansmart #distributedfilesystem #devops #network #networking #sysadmin https://lnkd.in/dyTqTSAE

NetBackup 10.4+ DNAS Multi-Mount Greatly Improves Snapshot Backup Performance --- Avoid the IT Administrator Zombies Don’t you just hate Monday morning IT administrator zombies? You’re minding your own business settling in with your first cup of coffee and you hear their feet shuffling towards you. Looking down the hall you see them coming, hissing things like: "Heeere allll weeeekend because of YOUUUUU...," "Missssed my kiddddd's evennnt....," "Allll yooouurrrr faulllllt...," “Slepttt in my chaaaaair,” and “Neeeeed a showwwwerrrr…” (Whew, no arguing that point.) It’s their smell from cheap takeout food and lack of hygiene, not their bites you have to watch out for. (Friday night’s tasty curry makes for a _mean_ Sunday morning breakfast without a toothbrush for three days.) Good thing sleep deprivation slows them down. You’re about to say, “Hey, nobody likes a _whiner_ in this business.” Then, you realize they’re what’s left of the administrative team relying on _your_ NAS backup job to get a complete capture of their filers over the weekend. They had some major IT assets off-line until the backup completed and they had to be on-site for the restarts ASAP. They waited _all_ weekend in the datacenter for your “quick” NAS job to complete. And now they’ve become the pitiful hoard shuffling your way. Oops. No sense of humor in that crowd. Definitely having lunch out today. Better start running… NetBackup 10.4+ helps prevent Monday morning IT backup zombies with improved DNAS job handling. Version 10.4 brings multi-mount technology to DNAS jobs allowing multiple media servers to take on each DNAS job as a team to help speed things up. Read about it here at my latest VOX post and avoid the Monday morning sprint to freedom from stinky exhausted administrators. Or start keeping free toothbrushes and deodorant on your desk: https://lnkd.in/gqFiPdhP
