Fashion with a purpose: "Choose Sustainable - Choose Ethicqal." We at Ethicqal follow Sustainable Production Practices like use of use of Regenerated Cotton/Polyester and Plastic bottles which reduces the fast fashion impact on our environment specially on soil because majority of these textile waste and plastic bottles ends up in landfills which takes 150+ years to degrade completely and affects soils fertility apart from these sustainable practices also reduce water usage and reduces carbon footprint. There are numerous benefits of switching into Sustainable Fashion, some of them are covered in video. Polyester remains the most widely used material in the fashion and textile industry. Yet, its reliance on virgin fossil-based materials is damaging to the environment. That’s why we encourage the use of recycled polyester as a more sustainable option, with 88% of our customers already on board. #Casestudy #Polyester #FashionIndustry #TextileIndustry #RecycledPolyester #SustainableFashion #EnvironmentallyFriendly #Reuse #ReduceWaste #EcoFriendlyMaterials #Sustainability #FashionTrends #ConsciousConsumption #EthicalFashion #CircularEconomy #GreenFashion #PlanetFriendly #ReuseRevolution #EcoMaterials #EcoConscious #RecycleAndReuse #GreenLiving #ChooseSustainability #EcoFashionChoices #ReduceCarbonFootprint #EcoFriendlyFashionChoices #ClimateActionNow #SustainableStyle #EthicalChoices #RecyclingMatters

Did you know that an estimated 60% of all textiles worldwide are made from synthetic materials like polyester, acrylic, and nylon? These plastics contribute to the growing problem of microplastic pollution in our oceans and environment. To truly address sustainability in fashion, we need to look beyond just vegan labels. It's crucial to consider the entire lifecycle of our clothing - from the materials used to the production processes and eventual disposal. Sustainability is not simple. I co-hosted a sustainability podcast called The Greenscore for 3 seasons (you can find episodes on Spotify and Apple if interested!). I started off thinking that every episode would reveal a series of silver bullets! Our first episode was on Plastic Packaging in food. A slam dunk right! Then we got talking about cucumbers. Was it worse to have a cucumber with no packaging but it goes off and is thrown away, versus a cucumber that does have packaging. Just don't buy a cucumber right? Ok well what do you replace that cucumber with. If you don't replace it with the right sort of food grown locally it can outweigh the benefits etc etc etc. The point was, like any decision in life, there is usually a trade-off. There are rarely perfect decisions. You have to weigh everything up. And also there was usually no perfect decision. So I have found in sustainable fashion! Since launching Stix, an online marketplace dedicated to men's sustainable fashion, I become immersed in this world. And the sustainability trade-off's and choices are as complicated. #cotton and #organiccotton is a great example of this. I did a deep dive as part of two series blog I did on it for Stix. So what were the takeaways from this for me? 1. Cotton is not great - uses loads of water, loads of land, and loads of chemicals that are bad for our planet and for workers 2. Organic Cotton (obviously) eliminates the chemicals which immediately makes it better 3. But its not perfect. It still needs a lot of land. And whether it uses less water than non-organic cotton is debated 3. We still need to look for ways to: a. cut our consumption. We need to use less b. continue to look for greener alternatives Organic Cotton is better than Cotton. But its not perfect. Perhaps the biggest thing was, educate yourself on sustainability so you have the power to decide! If you want to know more, blog link below! #sustainablefashion #sustainableliving #climatechange
Sustainability is not simple. Many choices involve trade-off's. In fashion, making a change often creates problems elsewhere. #cotton and #organiccotton are great examples of this. In our last blog we looked at why traditionally cultivated cotton was not great for our planet and we touched on why organic cotton was better. But Organic cotton isn't perfect either. So how does it help and how does it hinder, our planet? And is switching to Organic Cotton worth it? Earlier this week, I attended a stimulating roundtable hosted by the Forest Stewardship Council that opened my eyes to the crucial role materials play in fashion sustainability. It's not just about recycling or buying less, it's also about what our clothes are made of. Did you know that a whopping 73% of all current clothing production is made up of man-made fibres? That leaves only 21% for cotton, 7% for MMCF’s (Manmade Cellulosic Fibres), 4% for other natural fibres and a mere 1% for wool. Placing these figures in perspective, we are expecting a staggering 65% increase in fibre production in the next 5 years. As someone responsible for putting more stuff into the ecosystem - just got me thinking - can we continue this reliance on these synthetic fibres? What are your thoughts on the use of natural fibres in fashion and how can we encourage their use more? (wool seems obvs in the land of sheep) Mindful Fashion New Zealand #FashionSustainability #NaturalFibres
