With so much demand for energy in the Desert Southwest while older power plants continue to transition, there is no shortage of puzzles to solve. I was appreciative to join the "Utility Perspective" panel at this quite well-attended event last week and will continue to approach this challenge in partnership with the regional utilities as well as the load customers driving this growth, in collaboration with the communities that host our projects.
It was a privilege to represent APS as part of a panel on meeting growing customer demand at yesterday's Arizona Energy Consortium's Southwest Energy Conference. I was joined by Angie Bond-Simpson, who provided excellent additional context around Integrated System Planning at SRP. Ravi Sankaran and Jesse Gronner both provided insight from the developer perspective. Thank you Rex Stepp for moderating an engaging discussion! With the tremendous load growth we see in the Valley comes significant challenges. APS's 2023 Integrated Resource Plan lays out how we intend to serve considerable data center growth while continuing to progress toward a clean energy future. The key to our success going forward is partnerships with our customers, developers, and regulators in bringing forward projects that will benefit all of Arizona!
