A great post by my colleague Matt de Gruchy after Reuters Events Pharma, which had me thinking about the people side of the #GenAI revolution – specifically the #behaviours that need to be fully embedded to deliver on the tech's promise for pharma. Here’s my starter for five: 🧪 Be open to innovation – it’s one of the most innovative industries, so think like pharma. Be open to exploring new approaches and techniques, and try, test and experiment. ❓ Think critically – question and verify AI-generated outputs with rigorous inspection and testing. Use your powerful human judgement to apply GenAI and its outputs in an effective, reliable and ethical way. 🤔 Show curiosity and adaptability – acknowledge that you don’t have all the answers, and be curious about AI-generated insights. Focus on the questions you ask, be receptive to insights, and be adaptable enough to adjust your strategies and hypotheses. ⭕️ Think holistically and iteratively – relevant, specific context is a crucial input to GenAI, but do make space for exploration from all angles. Also allow for multiple iterations of input, refinement and validation to get the best outcome. 🤝 Collaborate – have an enterprise mindset, and maximise the collective expertise of diverse teams to exploit the full potential of GenAI. Work across organisational barriers, sharing data, integrating domain expertise and encouraging collaboration. When I reflect on those, it seems to me that those five behaviours should be well established in pharma organisations. It’s a sector used to driving innovation, to questioning and testing, adapting and iterating, and to working together to enhance outcomes for patients. So the adoption of AI should be plain sailing.
