My experience with MVPD model is that their pull is 100% price reductions. Isn't such a shift toward wholesale just a recipe for lower margins? Or does the offload of the sales effort more than make up for price reduction?

It is and consumers are happy to chose MVNO's today more than ever. once Echostar spins out retail I will make a huge purchase of the STATS stock.

It does seem to be. Worth revisiting if/once Net Neutrality gets revisited, but certainly not a guarantee.
