𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦, 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥 – 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 & 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝! 🏃 This weekend I was at the XLETIX GmbH maxi at the Baltic sea, the sun was shining and thousands of people wanted to conquer the hurdle run in Grömitz together. We have been diving through a tube with ice cold water, climbing a wall together and jumped with a trampoline into the harbour basin which was a push of adrenalin. What was interesting a lot of hurdles could not be conquered alone and you needed the help of a Team or some people around you. So, you got immediately connected with a lot of people who where enthusiastic, helpful and full of joy. To climb a wooden wall, you needed a least 3-4 people to do it together which randomly came together… My friend got at the end some knee pain, so I need to help her to reach the finish line! 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩? ✅ 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭 – as leader you need to form strong Teams which can rely on each other- together we are stronger and every person has unique skills that count. ✅ 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 & 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 - you need to accept that you cannot do everything alone, you need support and rely on the people around you, so does your Team rely on you. ✅ 𝐍𝐎𝐖 & 𝐉𝐎𝐘 – in challenging situations your mind is quit, you need to concentrate on the very moment. Now it is time to enjoy the very moment, and the hurdle will become a molehill. Together we enjoyed the mud run and have been celebrating that we reached together the goal! Afterwards, when we went to the hotel, I wanted to park my car as we have booked a parking lot prior, however the parking space was covered although we have paid for it. 😡 I got a bit annoyed as I was tired and exhausted from the run. My friend stayed calm and went to the reception, so that we entered another parking space which was at the end for free! In this very moment I understood, it will become better than you expected! Last night I had the unique opportunity of being a “fly on the wall” and getting a glimpse into what the culture and group outings are like at Zweig Group’s #1 Best Firm to Work For for 3 years in a row now. Yup, you guessed it, it’s Garver! Some friends of mine and I decided to try out the new K1 Speed in Rogers yesterday and were told that a company event would be wrapping up at 8 and that we could be worked in after it was over. No worries, we got some food and came back around 8 and sure enough, there seemed to be a Garver employee event going on. We proceeded to alternate races with the Garver group for the next couple hours and like us, they seemed to be having quite a grand time. They were even still going strong after we left! I truly believe that if you’ve built a company with staff that actively want to hang out with each other beyond 9:30pm, you’ve created something special. Hats off to Garver! As for K1 Speed, what a place! The carts are pretty dang fast and the track is well-maintained. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. The first cart I drove had a steering knuckle break mid-turn about halfway through (thankful for the shock-absorbing walls or my neck would be feeling it today) and they were happy to comp me another race that I plan on using soon. Highly recommend! Bottom Line/TLDR: Invest in your culture. It pays dividends with regards to marketing, recruiting and retention when the general public sees your employees having fun hanging out with each other.
