This Is the No. 1 Golf City in the U.S. - It Has Year-round Sunshine, Tons of Public Courses, and a Great Food Scene Looking to play a round of 18? Then, you might as well do so in the greatest golf destination in the nation. The luxury golf apparel brand Galvin Green released a study that analyzed the best golf cities in the U.S. The brand first identified the most populous cities in the nation and then evaluated them across 11 metrics, including how many golf courses were in the area, the number of restaurants (including how well they were rated), weather metrics (such as average temperature and rainfall), and the cost of hotels, beverages, and meals. After all was said and done, Scottsdale, Arizona, came out on top. There are 53 courses in Scottsdale ... with a further 47 within 20 miles," Galvin Green said in a press release obtained by Travel + Leisure. "Forty-nine percent of these are public courses, which is also above the national average (37.66 percent). Scottsdale also has a vast array of high-quality restaurants, with 743 rated four stars or above; this is above the average of 593, so there is plenty of choice for great meals while on your golf vacation." Here is a link to some of the golf course homes that are currently available in Scottsdale: https://lnkd.in/g34K-Pgm. Golf and Scotland All eyes are on Ayrshire this weekend for the 152nd Open at Royal Troon. It's a good time to reconsider the value of golf tourism to the Scottish economy and The Scottish Government's strategy to optimise visitor spend to the historical home of the sport. Scotland benefits hugely as the "home of golf" with the economic impact of golf tourism to Scotland worth over £300 million before the COVID-19 pandemic. Below you will find the strategy for the remainder of this decade to promote Scotland as a must-visit golf destination. I would summarize the key findings as 1. Focus on promoting Scotland as the ultimate golf destination for local, national, and international visitors by providing compelling and authentic experiences - the weather is certainly authentic at this year's Open :) 2. Position working in the golf sector as a career of choice by enhancing skills development, leadership, and innovation. A great example of innovation is the nine-hole course at Kingsfield Golf & Leisure Club in my home town of Linlithgow. 3. Engage communities to encourage golf as a force for good in local communities, bringing social, economic, and health benefits. 4. Maximize the value of golf events such as this weekend's Open as a catalyst for promoting Scotland and creating lasting legacies that benefit the local economy. 5. Focus on protecting the environment and ensuring environmental sustainability is a central pillar of any golf strategy in Scotland. This is essential if the reputation of our unique courses is to be maintained. I would add one more thought which is the weather. The howling winds and driving rain have played a major part in making this year's Open such a unique sporting event. We should view these "challenging" climactic conditions as a positive as they allow the golfer to test themselves as fellow players have for hundreds of years. I love this quote from esteemed golf writer Alan Shipnuck which perhaps should be used as part of the reason why we welcome all to play a round in Scotland. "𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬, 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬, 𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫-𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭-𝐛𝐲-𝐭𝐡𝐞-𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐲 𝐏𝐆𝐀 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬, 𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭, 𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞." Let's never forget that we are truly fortunate in Scotland to have such incredible national assets as Golf and Whisky to ensure we remain front-of-mind to so many across the globe. INVESTING IN GOLF COURSES IN AUSTRALIA On August 28, 2024, Vingroup announced that its subsidiary, Vinpearl Golf, has officially taken over the management and operation of Cape Wickham Golf Links - one of Australia’s most beautiful golf courses, located on King Island, Tasmania. This course was previously ranked 3rd among the most beautiful golf courses in Australia and 24th in the top 100 golf courses worldwide by Golf Digest (USA). In fact, Vingroup's acquisition of Cape Wickham Golf Links took place in 2017, with a reported value of approximately AUD 16 million (around VND 300 billion). When compared to the average investment required for a golf course project in Vietnam - estimated at USD 1 million per hole or USD 18 million (around VND 450 billion) for an 18-hole course, excluding additional costs such as land clearance - this was indeed a highly effective investment by Vingroup. The result is an internationally recognized golf course, although its island location poses challenges such as higher operational costs and a lower volume of regular visitors compared to courses near Australia's major cities like Sydney and Melbourne. Currently, ATB Investment & Partners offers several golf course investment options for our valued clients. With a budget comparable to or even lower than Vingroup's, you can own a golf course within a 2-hour drive from either Sydney or Melbourne. These opportunities include reserved land for future golf resort real estate development. For further details, please contact us at info@atbi.vn.

Golf carts are increasingly used in the golf courses, resorts and hotel industries to promote market growth. In the United States, the construction of new golf courses and the expansion of existing championship courses are growing vigourously. This has led to a growing demand for golf carts. As golf continues to attract enthusiasts and players of all ages, the demand for efficient transportation on golf courses has also increased. In addition, golf carts provide golfers with a convenient and environmentally friendly means of transportation, allowing them to move quickly between holes. This development will promote the growth of the low-speed automobile market in the United States. Therefore, the application of these vehicles in golf courses, closed community resorts, university campuses, large industrial zones, I centres, amusement parks and historical monuments is promoting the adoption of vehicles in the United States.

A round of golf is worth UP TO 50% MORE than just the green fee a golfer is paying to a course operator. That means a no-show or short show is 50% more financially painful for an operator. How is that? 👇 Below is an analysis we were proud to help the National Golf Foundation with: The economics of a golf course business flows from a simple but powerful principle: every tee time represents perishable inventory that, once lost, can never be recovered. In golf, as with restaurants and other fixed-capacity businesses, this reality has two interlinked dimensions that we might consider. First is the pure financials of unused capacity. When a tee time goes unfilled, the facility doesn’t just lose the green fee – it loses all the revenue accompaniments that would have come with it (food, drinks, range balls, hat, glove, etc.). For the average 18-hole public facility, we estimate total revenue per occupied tee time (“RevPOTT”) to be roughly 45% above playing fees alone, which is perhaps a more significant lift than you might have guessed. Consider, then, the impact of no-shows at golf courses. Recent analysis by an NGF Executive Member with visibility into more than 500 U.S. courses and 10 million rounds revealed a no-show rate of 9%, which would add up to about $1 billion in lost opportunity annually.[i] The scale of the issue is significant, and so is the sensitivity. Just as a restaurant can lose 5% of its income in one dinner service from a six-person no-show,[ii] golf facilities can see their margins eroded from only a few missed tee times. Even more striking is the extent to which lost inventory can be prevented – or at least addressed. The aforementioned analysis determined that only 11% of abandoned rounds were due to unplayable conditions, meaning most no-shows can actually be curtailed through improved policies (e.g., requiring a credit card to book a tee time), communication (e.g., automated SMS reminders), and waitlist technology.

POWHATAN, VA - A Powhatan golf course is in the early stages of teeing up a plan to transform part of its grounds. The Foundry Golf Club, a private 300-member club at 3225 Lee’s Landing Road, recently earned approval from the county board of supervisors to rezone nine acres of its property to allow the development of three “country inn” structures for overnight lodging for its members and their guests. The proposal, approved at the board’s meeting in late September, calls for construction of a 5,000-square-foot principal inn structure and two smaller, 2,500-square-foot structures on the eastern side of the club. The larger lodge building would house eight guest rooms, while the two smaller would each have four rooms. Those 16 lodging rooms would add to an existing 4-room lodge that’s been onsite at the Foundry since the 1990s, for which members pay $1,000 a night to access. Sandy Oliver, the club’s general manager, said the lodging expansion project is driven by demand for overnight stays from the Foundry’s 50 or so non-resident members, those that live outside the Richmond region and come to visit the club. Oliver said she ends up booking Airbnb rentals and rooms at the nearby Mill at Fine Creek for those visiting members because the demand outstrips the current lodge’s four-room capacity. “We have a group coming in next week, 36 guests for a two-day event and we only have four bedrooms. If we had three more lodges we could keep that revenue in-house,” Oliver said. Oliver emphasized that the project is still in its early stages and is likely to take up to two years to come to fruition. The club enlisted engineer Tommy Houston from Towne Site Engineering to handle the rezoning process. The next major step in the process is financing the project and Oliver said the Foundry is looking to its members as the main source of funding. Oliver said some members have come forward to pledge their financial support for some of the total needed and that the club will eventually reach out to all members and set a meeting to discuss the plans. Guest lodges are not uncommon at golf and country clubs. Locally, Kinloch Golf Club in Goochland has guest lodging facilities, as does Independence Golf Club on the border of Powhatan and Chesterfield. It recently hired golf course architect Andrew Green to design course upgrades on which the club plans to spend $1 million a year over the next five years. Those funds have already been earmarked from a capital improvement fee from members. Hunter Hankley, Foundry’s superintendent, said the ultimate goal of the course improvement plan to increase the length of the golf course to more than 7,000 yards. “Andrew Green is going through hole-by-hole and making sure every hole is playing the best it can for all handicap golfers,” Hankley said. On the list for this year’s leg of that improvement plan is to redo and lengthen the 14th hole and revamp the tee boxes on the 15th. #escrowcredirt #newmarktitleservices

Palm Beach County Golf on Noteefy 🔔 in the last 12 months: $1.1m+ in tee time revenue captured, over $600,000 inside 48 hours, 9,000+ golfers signed up, 20k+ rounds booked.... 🤯 When Eric Garber and I started talking a year ago about Palm Beach County Golf, and the levels of both demand and cancellations across their four courses, I never could have imagined this level of Noteefy adoption less than a year later. Eric: "Our Golfers were insisting on a better way to access their desired tee times, without constantly calling. At the same time - we needed a better way to plug holes in the tee sheet that were popping up from cancellations." Shortly after we launched and data started rolling in, the most surprising part to all of us was the amount of revenue re-captured from cancellations inside of 48 hours. With well over $600k to date (!!!) in last minute re-bookings via Noteefy, the risk of perished revenue AND lack of accessibility was very real. Working with Noteefy, Palm Beach County keeps 100% of that revenue to support recreational activities in the county. Palm Beach County's high cancellation rate and lack of accessibility are a problem for operators at courses across the country. If you run a course or courses and are interested in learning more.... we would love to chat! Shoot me a DM and we can set up time.
