At Troy Accounting, we believe in the power of teamwork and continuous improvement. One of the key practices that nurtures this culture is our weekly team huddle, where we gather to reflect, share, and grow together. This isn’t just any ordinary meeting; it’s a structured and meaningful session following the Thorn, Bud, Rose format. In this article we thought we’d take you inside one of these huddles to show you how it works and why it’s so valuable to our team.

Our #flinderLife stories series features one of our #teamflinder every few weeks. This week we spoke to Luke Streeter, COO and co-founder: “flinder came to be from an idea that sparked during my time working at PwC with Alastair, my co-founder and business partner. It all started with a message he sent me asking, "What would you do if you weren’t doing this?" That simple question led to us exploring the ideas behind flinder, and from there, the concept took off! Before flinder, I had experience in a small practice and then spent eight years at PwC. Most recently, I was working in MyFinancepartner, providing outsourced accounting services to SMEs. flinder was born out of a desire to do things differently. We knew we could shake things up and provide a service more aligned with our clients' strategic needs. I think our setup at flinder allows the team to thrive. We've created an environment that promotes growth and offers the chance to work with some exciting clients. By focusing on sectors we're good at, we can provide specialised, valuable services. As leaders, we value the team’s input and how they want to work. We promote a collaborative environment where challenging ideas is welcomed. It’s not about just doing things my way, I want to be challenged on my ideas and how we do things because as a business we’re always wanting to improve. Our flinder ethos has always been built on trust and independence. We give our team the flexibility to work where and when they want, focusing on outputs. I think that when people enjoy coming to work, they deliver better service to our clients, benefiting the entire business. That’s why we’ve always strived to create a fun working environment, with regular socials and our annual ski trip. It’s great to see how excited the team gets for the trip each year. It’s our way of saying thank you for all their hard work and really promotes the culture we always envisioned. It’s so rewarding to step back and think, wow – this is what we’ve built over the last seven years! The flinder leadership team is approachable and supportive, always open to challenges regardless of position or how long someone has been with us - we’re willing to listen and we're willing to change. I think this openness helps us continually improve and adapt which makes us better at what we do. Because of this our managers are exposed to leadership and decision-making far earlier than they might be in traditional firms. They have more autonomy which accelerates their growth and development. Of course, every business starts with an idea from the founders, but it thrives because of the people behind it. One of the key reasons for flinder’s success is our amazing team. We’ve created an environment where everyone has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully. It’s this collective effort and teamwork that drives our growth and makes flinder such a special place.” #accounting #finance #fastgrowth #startups #flinderLife
