Funding is allocated with priority given to requests that benefit low-and-moderate income individuals and communities within Columbia Bank’s footprint. The primary goals and objectives of the Foundation are to identify community based non-profits, civic, business and charitable organizations that meet the necessary Foundation criteria, and to provide support funding for their service initiatives. October 10 in "DAF Giving Day" -- a first ever -- according to this article. The purpose is to encourage people to donate from their Donor Advised Funds on that day. Now that DAF's are nearly 10 percent of all giving, all non-profits need to get onboard with making it easy for donors with DAFs to make gifts. Equivalency Determination (ED) and Expenditure Responsibility (ER) are the tools American grantmakers use to give tax-advantaged donations to international charities. Both ED and ER allow grantmakers to fund non-exempt entities, but there are situations where one may be more useful than the other. CAF America offers an “Enhanced Expenditure Responsibility”, combining the heightened internal due diligence that resembles that of ED with the flexibility offered by traditional ER. Grant fundraising ick: "the Trustees actively seek out projects for support and rarely respond to unsolicited applications." Trusts, I'm begging you, please just decide one way or another and communicate it clearly. Why are you so afraid of commitment? Just say it as it really is: you don't accept unsolicited applications. With the fundraising environment as it is, I guarantee you that every single fundraiser under pressure to meet targets will read your 'rarely' with a glimmer of hope that 'we could be the one'. You will be inundated with unsolicited requests, which after doing this for a while, I know will just end up in the bin. You are wasting hundreds and potentially thousands of charities' money and resources. If you must be so desperately non-committal, I'd like to see the total numbers of applications you received and the number of successful unsolicited requests outlined clearly in figures and a nice pie chart every year in your annual reports.
