🚂 🚧 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸: 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁 𝗦𝗥𝗙𝗜        At Collins Earthworks, the festive season didn’t mean slowing down - it meant gearing up to deliver critical infrastructure for the rail industry. Over Christmas, our dedicated operations team worked around the clock to ensure minimal downtime during the 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 (𝗦𝗥𝗙𝗜) project in partnership with VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd.    Here’s a snapshot of the incredible effort put into this transformative project on the Midland Main Line between London St Pancras and Bedford. Supporting the transition from road to rail and contributing to the UK's journey toward net zero.     🎯𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀   • Successfully completed 𝟱 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 with continuous 𝟮𝟰-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. • Stripped rail ballast below existing overhead cables and removed existing sheet piles efficiently.  • 𝟭𝟮,𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗺³ 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗮𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 was completed 𝗶𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟯𝟬 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀.  • Provided attendant plant and engineers to facilitate the installation of a 𝟲,𝟬𝟬𝟬-𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. • Installation of carrier pipes, land drainage and geotextile membranes. • Completed 𝟲,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗺³ 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹 in just 𝟯.𝟱 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀.     💪 𝗨𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The contribution to this milestone wouldn’t have been possible without our phenomenal operations team, who gave up their Christmas to help keep the rail industry moving alongside completing the project to a high standard and ahead of programme.    📌 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲:    • VolkerFitzpatrick LinkedIn Post - https://shorturl.at/lVPG7 • SEGRO LinkedIn Post - https://shorturl.at/Q7YOP • VolkerFitzpatrick Project Details - https://shorturl.at/Wkec0    #WeAreCollins #CollinsEarthworks #Construction #Rail #RoadtoRail #Dedication #Collaboration

Farnborough North Station is en route to being accessible for all passengers! As a business focussed on #BringingPeopleTogether and #ConnectingCommunities Octavius are making great progress on the Farnborough North Station Access for All project. The Access for All programme, supported by Network Rail in partnership with the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom and local councils, seeks to remove obstacles and provide an accessible route into stations and between platforms. Through this important work at Farnborough Station Octavius are helping to create a better-connected local community, enabling greater and fairer access to work and leisure opportunities. Outcomes that will directly support local economic growth and reduce carbon emissions by providing people with a better choice and use public transport. Recent project milestones include the installation of the single span footbridge, stairs, landings, and link structures for Network Rail all completed on schedule and without accident or incident. We've collated some of the industry news to end the week!🗞️ 🛤️Alstom’s Litchurch Lane site in Derby will open to the public for the first time in over 50 years on August 1-3, 2025, as part of Railway 200, a year-long celebration marking the 200th anniversary of the Stockton & Darlington Railway. ️ 💧NI Water has gone out to tenders with a framework contract for water and wastewater pumps with an estimated total value of £40 million – scope of the contract covers supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, maintenance and repairs and supply of spare parts for pumps and mixers. 🚝 Detailed plans for a new transport hub at Bristol Temple Meads station have been unveiled for the first time by the team behind the Bristol Temple Quarter project. Virginia has chosen Long Bridge Rail Partners, a team of experienced contractors and designers, to lead the $2.3-billion Long Bridge Project over the Potomac River. This exciting project will add a new rail bridge and a pedestrian-and-cyclist bridge, easing train congestion and making travel smoother, with plans to wrap up by 2030.

An exciting update for the $2.3bn Long Bridge Project!   The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) has finalized its team for the project, a game-changing initiative to expand rail capacity and improve travel in the region.   The south package contract was awarded to Long Bridge Rail Partners, a joint venture including PJ Dick - Trumbull - Lindy, S&B USA Construction & Fay, and Wagman, with STV as lead designer. The north package is led by Skanska and Flatiron Construction.   This project will: - Add a new two-track rail bridge over the Potomac. - Build a pedestrian and cyclist bridge. - Relieve congestion on the existing bridge, which operates at 98% capacity during peak hours.   With completion targeted for 2030, this project will enhance service for CSX, Amtrak, and VRE passengers, paving the way for more frequent and reliable travel.   Article link in the comments.

Our latest project update video is out 🎥      With most of the deep tunnel drives and earthworks completed, Britain's new high-speed railway is taking shape 🤩.      Figures show that 70% of twin-bore tunnels have been excavated to date, and 58% of earthworks for the railway’s cuttings, embankments, stations and landscaping have been completed. Rail Leaders Push for HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd Extension — Extending to Euston and Crewe Could Be a £20 Billion Opportunity The HS2 project, once considered the future of Britain’s high-speed rail network, has faced multiple challenges, from rising costs to political uncertainty. Recent analysis by the High Speed Rail Group (HSRG) suggests that extending the line to Euston in London and Crewe in Cheshire could unlock its full financial potential. With the UK government weighing the future of this extension, rail industry leaders argue that the additional investment required could result in long-term savings. According to HSRG, building the line to central London and Crewe would enable the government to lease the operating rights for much more than it could under the current plan, which would terminate at Old Oak Common and Birmingham.
